Roosevelt - 5
Truman - 3
Eisenhower - 1
Kennedy - 4
Johnson - 1 (but if farting, briefing your staff on the crapper and whipping out your unit to show off its size counts -- 5)
Nixon - 1
Ford - 1
Carter - 1
Reagan - 5
Bush I - 2
Clinton - 3
Bush II - 1
Obama - 4  (I basically agree with this...FDR had that confident, upturned smile that Obama still lacks.)

But let's get real guys -- when it comes to charisma, who could ever approach the awesomeness of Senator Tom Carper?  ::: runs :::

Why's everyone rating Nixon so low? the man was a confident, charismatic speaker if you look before 1968. He just wasn't as good as Kennedy.

FDR - 5 (could have sold ice to an eskimo)
Truman - 3 (avg Presidential charisma)
Eisenhower - 3 (avg Presidential charisma ... being a war hero he didn't need any extra)
JFK - 4 (inspired many but didn't have the FDR/Reagan ability to make even his enemies like him)
LBJ - 1 (almost as charismatic feces)
Nixon - 3 (cleverly manipulative but not specifically charismatic ... made way too many enemies)
Ford - 1 (a dolt, a nimrod, less charismatic than Johnson)
Carter - 2 (really lucky he ran against Ford in '76)
Reagan - 5 (the man was a freakin' movie star ... the only way he could have been more charismatic was if he was Paul Newman)
Bush I - 2 (boring, bland, monotone)
Clinton - 4 (see JFK)
Bush II - 4 (despite his personal failings, lack of intelligence, and lousy positions he got almost 1/2 the nation to vote for him ... twice ... the only thing he had was charisma)
Obama - 4 (jury is still out, but basically it was charisma which took him from being a state senator to the White House in 4 years)

I gave LBJ and Nixon a little higher than some of you because I think they had a kind of old-school presence which is somewhat lost on us today - true it was mostly a negative kind of charisma, but those two dominated whatever they touched.  People like the Bushes, Clinton, Obama, are little milquetoasts compared to the alpha males of that older generation.

Obviously Reagan was a disgusting freak, but most people didn't see that, so he gets the 5.

Can we use decimal points (like Clinton: 3.5, Bush Jr.: 2.7) in ranking the Presidents by charisma?

Obviously Reagan was a disgusting freak, but most people didn't see that, so he gets the 5.

more accurately, he was surrounded & controlled by disgusting freaks, and he was an old man going senile who probably thought he was playing the POTUS in a Hollywood feature film.
