New Poll: Virginia Governor by TNS Intersearch on 2009-09-17

Summary: D: 47%, R: 51%, U: 2%

Poll Source URL: Full Poll Details

4. If the election were being held today and the candidates were (Creigh Deeds, the Democrat) and (Bob McDonnell, the Republican), for whom would you vote?

Net Leaned Vote:                Other     Wouldn't       No

Deeds  McDonnell   (vol.)   vote (vol.)   opinion

9/17/09 LV    47        51        *          0            2

8/14/09 LV    39        54        1          *            7

8/14/09 RV    40        47        1          3            9

 5. (IF NAMED CANDIDATE) Will you definitely vote for (CANDIDATE) in November, or is there a chance you could change your mind and vote for someone else? (IF CHANCE CHANGE MIND) Is there a good chance you'll change your mind or would you say it's pretty unlikely?

Deeds:                            --------Change mind--------

Definitely vote   NET  Good chance   Unlikely     No opinion

9/17/09 LV           72           26       10           16              2

8/14/09 LV           62           33       12           21              5

8/14/09 RV           61           35       15           20              4

McDonnell:                        --------Change mind--------

Definitely vote   NET  Good chance   Unlikely     No opinion

9/17/09 LV           69           28        7           21              3

8/14/09 LV           59           38       18           21              3

8/14/09 RV           50           46       21           26              4

So Deeds has a higher percentage of his voters who are 100% committed to him; however, McDonnell has more of his possible mind-changers saying it's unlikely that they'll change their mind.

If McDonnell actually finds a way to lose this the Virginia GOP may want to considering disbanding.
