March 16th 2016
The New York Post says it has “an anonymous source” who has supplied a list of possible Vice Presidential Candidates for Senator Charlie Crist. The source confirmed that there is one very big name that is a wildcard, but refused to release it.

•   Senator John Thune of South Dakota
•   Former Governor Gary Johnson of New Mexico
•   Former Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana
•   Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana
•   Congressman Marsha Blackburn
•   Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
•   Former Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota
•   Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana
•   Former Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas
•   General David Petraeus of New York
•   General Stanley A. McChrystal of New York

March 17th 2016

The Crist Camp refuses to confirm any of the names on the list.

March 18th 2016

Three of Bayh’s senior aides quit, including his campaign manager, showing the skepticism of future of the campaign.

Spitzer’s spokesman criticizes the Bayh campaign saying “they can’t keep their own staff, together how will he keep the country together?”

Bayh’s spokesman responds with “the character of our candidate isn’t measured in the staff he surrounds himself with, it’s measured in achievements and his decisions in life, unfortunately the same cannot be said about Governor Spitzer.”

The Spitzer campaign calls for the resignation of the spokesman and the Bayh camp refuses.

A war of words erupts between the two campaigns.

National Favorability Ratings March 20th 2016

(Favorable/Unfavorable/Don’t Know)
Governor Elliot Spitzer:  45/40/15 (Democrats: 50/40/10)
Senator Evan Bayh:  53/35/12        (Democrats: 60/30/10)
Senator Charlie Crist: 70/15/15    (Republicans: 73/20/7)

Head-To-Head Matchups:
Charlie Crist: 53%
Elliot Spitzer: 42%

Charlie Crist: 51%
Evan Bayh: 46%

March 30th 2016

The Wall Street Journal breaks another secret meeting between Bayh and Spitzer. The source said that the two do not get along on a personal level at all, and the meeting went horribly.
Neither camp denies or confirms the report.

April 22nd 2016

Spitzer’s and Bayh’s favorability ratings have both slid in the polls due to the harsh words between the campaigns.

Pennsylvania Primary Results:
Elliot Spitzer: 53% (+100 delegates)
Evan Bayh: 47% (+89 delegates)

April 30th:
Mark Warner announces that he will make an endorsement in the following days, but an audio clip of Warner talking to an aide after a press event makes its way online, in it Warner Is heard saying “…is the right person for the Presidency right now…the lack of respect the Bayh campaign has shown Spitzer is horrible…he’s apologized over and over again…his family forgave him…why can’t the Bayh campaign forgive him?”

May 1st:
Mark Warner endorses Elliot Spitzer at a campaign event and asks his supporters to support (what he calls) the Democratic nominee Elliot Spitzer.
New York Times reports that Evan Bayh is having a secret (not so secret anymore) meeting with Charlie Crist the same day.

May 3rd:
Evan Bayh appears with supporters, and drops out of the race from Indianapolis, Indiana.

May 10th:

The super delegates endorse Elliot Spitzer for the Democratic nomination.

May 11th:
President Barack Obama endorses Governor Elliot Spitzer on the lawn of the White House.
Pundits question why Vice President Bayh wasn’t there, the White House responds that “Vice President Bayh had obligations made months in advance for today”

Head to Head Matchups

Senator Charlie Crist: 50%

Governor Elliot Spitzer: 38%
Unsure: 14%
June 2nd 2016:

The Washington Post claims that Vice President Bayh is being considered for Charlie Crist’s Vice Presidential nominee.

No comment from Bayh’s Press Secretary. David Axelrod, a senior aide to President Obama, says that

Crist’s campaign refuses to comment on the Vice Presidential selection process.

June 18th 2016:

Top Democrats in Congress call for Vice President Bayh to appear with Governor Elliot Spitzer and to endorse him.

June 20th 2016
A short list for Elliot Spitzer’s Vice President leaks onto the internet, although it is not known if all of the names are legitimate.
•   Senator Mark Warner of Virginia
•   Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz of Pennsylvania
•   Former Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico
•   Former Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota
•   Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin
•   Senator Jim Webb of Virginia
•   Former Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana
•   Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesotta
•   Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas
•   Senator Al Franken of Minnesotta

July 1st 2016
How the Electoral Map Looks so far

Why the Southwest is a toss up: The influx of Hispanics has boosted the Democratic Party’s presence in the southwest. The Obama Administration helped legalize over 750,000 immigrants of Hispanic origin.
Spitzer’s favorability ratings are also significantly better in the southwest than the southeast…however Spitzer’s past has made Pennsylvania and Maine a toss up also.
Obama’s Approval Rating is at 53% after inflation hits 2%...also the budget deficit is still in the trillions. Many people are worried about another financial meltdown.

July 15th 2016
Both candidates campaign vigorously. Crist’s campaign is confident that they will win Texas regardless of the polls and puts a lot of money into the Northeast.

Head-To-Head Polls

Charlie Crist: 52%

Elliot Spitzer: 43%

August 1st 2016

A shorter list for Charlie Crist’s Vice President is leaked to the Wall Street Journal.

•   Former Governor Gary Johnson of New Mexico
•   Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana
•   Congressman Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee
•   Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
•   Vice President Evan Bayh of Indiana

The last name on the list once again starts huge media speculation about a split of opinion in the White House –that President Obama’s Vice President may endorse someone else. More leaders of Congress call for Evan Bayh to endorse Elliot Spitzer.
Governor Charlie Crist announces that he will announce his pick on August 8, one day before the Republican National Convention.

August 8th 2016
Governor Charlie Crist flies to Iowa to announce his Vice Presidential pick.
Former Governor Gary Johnson of New Mexico!

Charlie Crist says he picked Johnson because of his strong policies of fiscal restraint while Governor of New Mexico.

Pundits on both sides are criticizing and applauding the decision.  Republicans say that Johnson is a self-made man, who worked his way to be Governor and that he showed courage in vetoing over 750 bills, and endlessly working to make government smaller and more familiar to the people.

Some liberal Democrats like the pick, since Johnson was on the Board for Students for Sensible Drug Policy, while others criticize him for privatizing prisons in New Mexico during his administration and shifting Medicaid to managed care.

August 9th 2016
The Republican National Convention starts in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Charlie Crist gets the usual bump in the polls.

The Republican agenda is more moderate this year thanks to Crist and they drop abstinence only education from their platform.

Christ/Johnson: 55%
Spitzer: 40%

Spitzer's VP will be revealed later tonight or tomorrow.

Yeah. This is realistic. lol. So Senator Crist picks a guy to be his VP who hasn't served in public office for FOURTEEN YEARS? The thing you should have done would have been to look at the 2010 elections and pick somone from the list of current candidates who are bound to be future players on the national scene. A candidate like future Governor Josh Penry of Colorado or Meg Whitman would have been the perfect pick.

Trying to make it interesting --but the poll before the map was May, and the map was for July. I didn't include another head-to-head matchup...it was much closer, then Spitzer's ratings dropped again during the RNC.

I did look at the 2012 candidates, etc and Johnson was on there. He was in the national spotlight in 2012 during my timeline, and he could have stayed active after that --but I didn't look at many more potential 2010 Governors.

You make a good point, and I'll fix it with a twist.

August 20th 2016

At a campaign event in Phoenix, Arizona Governor Elliot Spitzer announces his choice for Vice President.

Seconds before the event begins, the media is tipped off that Former Governor Gary Johnson was involved in a car accident while traveling between campaign stops in New Jersey, and paramedics were on scene.

Governor Spitzer comes out, and says that he hopes Governor Johnson is okay, and then announces his choice for Vice President….

Former Governor of Iowa Chet Culver

Governor Culver served as Governor of Iowa from 2006 – 2014. After his term ended, President Barack Obama appointed him to a special research council on education.

Analysis:
Democrats: Democrats applaud the nomination. Culver was a dark horse candidate who will appeal to the Breadbasket Democrats in the Midwest…It will give geographic balance to the ticket and looks less elitist than Spitzer.

Republicans:  Republicans argue that Culver isn’t ready for the national spotlight and that he is inexperienced and too far left.

After the announcement, the Crist campaign releases a brief statement congratulating Governor Culver and then announcing that Former Governor Gary Johnson is in the hospital with serious injuries from the car accident.

August 22nd 2016
Doctors announce that Johnson’s injuries are severe and may take time to recover. Speculation begins if Johnson will remove his name from the ballot due to the extent of his injuries.

The DNC also starts today and lasts for 4 days

September 1st 2016

Crist/Johnson: 53%
Spitzer/Culver:  46%
September 5th 2016Sad/b]
Governor Gary Johnson, who still has serious injuries, asks Christ to replace him as his Vice Presidential running mate. Johnson’s status is critical.

September 10th 2016

Charlie Crist announces his Vice Presidential nominee, Governor Meg Whitman of California.

Crist/Whitman: 52%

Spitzer/Culver: 46%

September 25th 2016:

The First Presidential Debate: National Security

Charlie Crist stumbles on the continuing threat of North Korea, and Sptizer stumbles on nuclear proliferation, both issues they should be familiar with. Overall, except for those two, the candidates both perform well and no big-game changers.

Winner of the debate:
Spitzer: 40%
Crist: 37%

October 1st 2016
Polling:

Election Night Map on the night of the debate:

Vice Presidential Debate:

Culver wanders into Whitman’s territory of business and stumbles royally, leaving openings for Whitman to lambast him on everything he says. Culver is defeated miserably

Whitman: 65%
Culver: 10%
Not Sure: 25%

Crist/Whitman: 50%[/b]
Spitzer/Culver: 47%
Unsure: 3%

October 10th 2016:

The Second Presidential Debate takes place, this time it’s on the economy.  Spitzer puts Crist in the gutter when he speaks about how Crist supported the Democratic Stimulus plan anyway, and also talks about he put more restrictions on Wall Street, and his achievements as Governor. Spitzer analyzes how to control the rising inflation rate while he says Crist merely says what the Republicans want and not what will really help.

Winner of the Debate:
Spitzer: 50%
Crist: 30%
Unsure: 20%

The Third Presidential Debate is a town hall format and both candidates take questions from the audience ranging from social security to national security to what their favorite type of food is.
Spitzer hammers away at how his immigration reform program will be much more effective and cost effective than Crist’s plan.

Winner of the Debate:

Spitzer: 40%
Crist: 38%

Polling:

Crist/Whitman: 51%

Spitzer/Culver: 47%

Spitzer National Favorability Ratings:

Area – Favorable/Unfavorable/Unsure(or never heard of)
Northeast – 60/30/10
South – 27/56/17
Central:  48/41/11
West – 53/34/13

Obama Approval Rating: 53%
Unemployment: 5%
Inflation: 2.5%

NOVEMBER 8TH 2016 – ELECTION DAY

Charlie Crist / Meg Whitman – Republican Party – 270 EV – 67,887,333 PV (51%)
Elliot Spitzer / Chet Culver – Democratic Party – 269 EV -- 64,552,750 PV (48%)
Minor Candidates: 1,306,611 PV

At 11:27pm, Elliot Spitzer called President-elect Charlie Crist to concede to him. Even though Texas wasn’t called on election night, Charlie Crist had captured the magic number either way.
The Texas vote flipped due to a high turnout of new Hispanic immigrants, which pundits called “electoral map shattering.”

At midnight Elliot Spitzer gave his concession speech to America, thanking them for giving him a second chance.

Charlie Crist at his victory speech thanked Spitzer, and said that he has truly redeemed himself. Crist adds in “there may be a place for Elliot in my cabinet if he’s willing to accept”

In the United States Senate:

Democrats: 55

Republicans: 45

No change in the composition of the US Senate.

In the United States House of Representatives:

Democrats: 239 (+9)

Republicans: 199 (-9)

Gains in the House for Democrats.

Possibly coming up (if I get positive responses): I have an idea that I call "The Catastrophe"

Yeah, its a bit unrealistic but I wanted to redraw the electoral map somehow.

Thanks!

In my timeline she wins in 2010...should have probably stipulated that somewhere.

Department of State
Secretary Bobby Jindal

Department of the Treasury
Secretary Elliot Spitzer

Department of Defense
Secretary Stanley A. McChrystal

Department of Justice
Attorney General Mike Pence

Department of the Interior
Secretary Mitch Daniels

Department of Agriculture
Secretary Chet Culver

Department of Commerce
Secretary John Chambers

Department of Health and Human Services
Secretary Gary Johnson

*Unanimously confirmed since most think he won't last long.

Department of Energy
Secretary Arnold Schwarzenegger

Department of Education
Secretary Aaron Schock

Department of Homeland Security
Secretary Kay Bailey Hutchinson

January 1st 2017
Obama Approval Rating: 55%
Crist Favorability Rating: 80%
Unemployment: 4.8%
Inflation: 2.7%

Wednesday, January 20th 2017

The first African American President, President Barack H. Obama leaves office. He leaves on a high note with an approval rating around 55%. The now former President  gave thanks to the people who elected him a few nights before, and cites his accomplishments during two terms such as; ending the war in Iraq, although there is still violence, Iraqi Security forces are able to handle it.

The United States is perceived better internationally, being part of a global nuclear proliferation initiative and as well as making changes to improve its energy independence. Some measures of Obama’s health care reform have been passed, such as stricter regulations on insurance companies, but there was never a public option.

Osama Bin Laden has not been caught, and is presumed dead by local reports in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The United States has about 5,000 troops left in Afghanistan at permanent bases.
What’s Coming Up for the Christ Administration?

The Obama Administration managed to silence Iran in 2011 on its nuclear weapons program and let inspectors come in and they did stop immediately pursuing their nuclear ambitions; however; they still have the capacity to create nuclear weapons quickly and a few radical skeptics believe they already have one. Israel has said it will strike Iran if they restart their program.

The Israel and Palestine conflict continues…the Obama Administration had been able to help keep long cease fires, but as they had during the Bush Administration, the ceasefires never lasted.

North Korea is becoming more and more isolated as China backs away from it as a partner in, well, anything. Intelligence reports show that the level of poverty in North Korea has increased dramatically and they are blowing the trumpets of war, saying that capitalism is causing their pain
.
Japan has mobilized an extensive military force in the past 8 years, and South Korea has been ready.

…and Charlie Crist is inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States.

Crist’s wife gets completely sloshed at the Inauguration.

March 2017
Charlie Crist pushes what he calls a “Compromised Budget & Economic Plan” through Congress which was written by Treasury Secretary Elliot Spitzer, a Democrat, along with President Crist and with Crist’s senior staff. The bill passes with roughly half of each party supporting it.
Crist Approval Rating February 2017: 78%
Crist Approval Rating August 2017: 70%

Crist keeps record high approval ratings by governing from the center. The left is incredibly upset and so is the far right, but the majority of people are extremely happy with his job performance so far.
No major problems for Crist have occurred yet, and he hasn’t won a noble peace prize yet either.

November 6th 2017:
7:18am – President Charlie Crist arrives in the Oval Office for his morning briefings.
8:00am – A Washington DC police officer, Chahel Chakor  enters the basement of the US Captiol with several large packages labeled “office supplies.”
10:00am – Chahel Chakor lets in several people into a storage room in the US Captiol
6:00pm – The United States Senate & House of Representatives begins to gather in the US Capitol, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and Majority Leader Arrive
6:58pm – Vice President Meg Whitman arrives in Washington, DC.
7:25pm –Chief Justice John Roberts arrives at the US Capitol
7:35pm – President Charlie Crist’s motorcade leaves for the US Capitol
7:49pm – President Charlie Crist arrives at the US Captiol to give a major policy speech on education
7:57pm – Senator Andrew Cuomo hears an odd sound, and looks up into the ceiling. He thinks he sees a shadow but thinks nothing of it.
8:00pm – The Sergeant-At-Arms announces the President of the United States
8:05pm –President Charlie Crist begins to address the Senate and House.
8:07pm – The Representatives and Senate all stand and applaud the President.
   8:07pm –Gunfire breaks out.
8:09pm –An explosion rips through the floor of the chamber; smoke and debris block the sight. Gunfire is heard coming from both the floor and from the upper part of the chamber or the ceiling. Screaming.
One Senator looks back as he runs out of the chamber and can make outseveral bodies near the podium.

One Senator looks back as he runs out of the chamber and can make out several bodies near the podium.

8:10pm – America is in a state of shock, with a few million people having watched the beginning of the gunfire live. The media can confirm, through tapes, that the President was definitely shot before the bomb went off.
The Secret Service have already begun moving Secretary of the Interior Mitch Daniels who was the designated survivor. Mitch Daniels is moved to an undisclosed location.
8:11pm – More police and ambulances begin to arrive at the capitol. Several infantry units are on their way.
8:20pm – Apache helicopters land on the South Lawn & around Capitol Hill
8:25pm –A federal judge says that the designated survivor is constitutionally the Acting President until survivors are found above Daniels in the line of succession.
The US Army seizes the Capitol and White House.
8:26 –Acting President Mitch Daniels orders all planes to be grounded, and goes to DEFCOM2 and EMERGCON.
8:30 –Elliot Spitzer is pulled out of the south wing, and says Jindal is still alive but barely. Word quickly spreads that if JIndal is alive, he would be President.
8:32 –Capitol Police confirm that the President and Vice President are dead.
8:34 –Secret Service throw Elliot Spitzer into a car and whisk him away.
8:38 –Secret Service confirm that the casualties are in the hundreds and that it is likely that the Senate Pro Tempore and Speaker are both dead.
8:40 –Bobby Jindal, barely alive is found and transported to George Washington Hospital.

I'll make another update tonight.

Wolf Blitzer on CNN: What a horrible tragedy…right now we can confirm that Secretary of the Interior Mitch Daniels is the Acting President at a secure location. Washington DC and the surrounding area are completely locked down as Federal Officers look for anyone associated with the attack at the Capitol.

Wolf Blitzer turns to a pundit: Right now, we know that two people who are above Mitch Daniels in the line of succession are alive…Secretary of State Bobby Jindal and Secretary of the Treasurey Elliot Spitzer. Reports confirm that Spitzer looked relatively okay for someone who just went through an attack, and we know Jindal is in the hospital. Now that we know who is alive, does this create a Constitutional Crisis? Is Jindal technically the Acting President?

Pundit: Well, Wolf its fairly complicated but because Spitzer and Jindal weren't immediately able to discharge Presidential duties, Daniels became the Acting President. Congress, can dismiss him at anytime by appointing a Speaker, or a President Pro Tempore of the Senate --who would then become President, however; it is unclear to me if Presidential powers are technically Jindals. As long as they aren't fighting over who is President...I think we'll manage to get through this...

8:42  –Capitol Police confirm that the Pro Tempore and Speaker were killed in the initial gunfire.

More updates tonight.

(My source for the succession stuff has been http://www.fed-soc.org/publications/pubID.123/pub_detail.asp which seems pretty logical but not enough to answer all my questions)

With Jindal succeeding Crist but unable to do anything right now, isn't Spitzer Acting President, as he's unharmed and outranks Daniels?

By the way, there's a presidential list Smiley

44th: Barack Obama (D-IL), January 20, 2009 - January 20, 2017
45th: Charlie Crist (R-FL), January 20 - November 6, 2017
Acting: Mitch Daniels (R-IN), November 6, 2017
46th: Bobby Jindall (R-LA), November 6, 2017 - present

(I give Jindall a "number", assuming he's permanent successor as highest ranking survivor for now)

Btw, what about congressional casaulties beside Speaker and pro tem?
