Rin-Chan, would you be interested in joining the Fantasy Board? You could be the first straight couple to be married. Cheesy
How can we do that?  Like, who do we ask and stuff?

Rin-chan
Well, since you are registered in fantasy politics, Fezzyfestoon or you can post a thread saying you two are married. The marriages so far are:

Hughento and Fritz
Clay and Orlando Bloom
Peter Bell and I-Spy

There are probably more.

But go ahead. It's your choose.

We are not referring to degenerate marriages.

Please StatesRights that is beneath you. I'm not a degenerate and I'm not demanding to be married, I'm not even in the running for a civil partnership. I was only being lighthearted.

Sorry, just having a tongue in cheek moment..or possibly foot in mouth. Tongue

Well, Casey's Pro-Life stance is a turn-off for me, but I think a conservative Democrat and a liberal Republican is fun irony. Besides, after leafing through "It Takes A Family" I am convinced Santorum is a 12th Century mind in a 21st Century world.

I was a moderately conservative Republican when I met my boyfriend (a self-described socialist) almost 4 years ago. He helped me shift leftward by showing me how non-Americans in and outside America see America.

Why worry about what non Americans think?

Other than a few Louisiana soldiers of French descent, I bet Catholics were a very small minority in the Confederate forces.

What about the thousands of Maryland soldiers? Also, I believe Patrick Cleburne was Catholic as well. Also, the Catholic Church and the Confederate States. Pope Pius IX supported the confederacy and saw the American North as having "threatening tendencies" (probably because of the Norths' harsh repression of Judiasm and Irish Catholicism).

States,

Just curious. The irish that fought for the south...were they irish catholics or Ulster Irish/Scots-Irish/Orangemen (Presbies)

It is said that the American Civil war was just an extension of the conflicts between the British, Scots, Irish and Welsh. The North, was of course, dominated by people of British stock descent, while the south was a whole hodgepodge of groups, mainly Scots-irish/Scots/irish/welsh. I believe their was actually a mix of Irish Catholics with the other groups you've mentioned. For example my wifes ancestors were all Protestants of Irish descent.

I take it the Catholicism came from the Austrian branch of your family.

You got it. Smiley The arabic side of my family were all Coptic Christian and the Irish side were non-religious as far as the research we've done shows.

I just found out there is a very small fraction of me that is African.  It must have been completely overwhelmed by now because I'm pretty damn white, with blonde hair and blue eyes.  I do tan nicely though, haha.

It's ok a great majority of Americans of all races can say the same.

Well, true.  But I'm more referring to recent family history.  I think it was 5 generations back or so.

Which part of Africa?

I have no idea, but it isn't a white African ancestry if that's what you're getting at.  That's what I said and my grandmother made it VERY clear there was a black influence in our genealogy. Tongue  I'm not sure I buy it, but apparently her cousin spent years researching and compiling our family history.  I think it's funny either way, just because of what I look like, that there even could be black mixed in there.

No, I wasn't getting at anything. I was just wondering if your ancestors came from North Africa, south Africa, west or east.
