How many poor people that you know pay taxes?

As I said, they all pay sales tax even if they have no job, and if they  have a job, no matter how little it pays, they pay about 15% of their income or so in payroll tax, which is always nonrefundable.

Raggage, I agree with some of your points, but point Number 2 is enough by itself to make me leave the GOP.

Income tax is too high, payroll tax is too high, do you think anything is not too high for poor people to pay?  Just because they are poor doen't mean they dont have to contribute to society.  Poor people are after all the beneficiaries to these payroll tax funded programs.  Maybe taxes do hurt them, but they hurt me too and I'm not whining about my taxes.  I don not believe that the people that Kerry is trying to appeal to on this tax issue are the dirt-poor-under-the-povertyline-eating-grubs poor people, cause I dont think they have tvs or watch debates.  He is trying to appeal to the lower middle class factory worker making $15-$20/hr and are in the ~$1k +15% bracket.  These people need to contribute to society, and more than a couple bucks.   If they cant make ends meet than they are  living before their means.  Plenty of families live ont that and arnt crying about it.  If they dont want to strain anymore than they can educate themselves or learn a new skill so they can make more money.  Then they can pay more taxes like me.

1. The War In Iraq:The right war at the wrong time.

In a tie in with my other serious thread.  Why does Kerry want to increase it by two divisions?  That's not rhetorical.
