As far as the RPP-JCP alliance referred to, I plead ignorance as it was well before my time and officially duck the question. :-P

The JCP wasn't quite the same party then since we hadn't yet merged with the SDP...

Anyway, back then, abolishing regions and moving to a more European-style game were serious threats. The JCP and RPP were in line on these critical issues and united against them.

Yeah, the RPP didn't even contest that our most liberal member be on your ticket.  We just wanted to make sure regions were preserved to help our long-term goals

Speaking of which, sbane you've obviously got a right to your own view and, yes, you may be moderate by LNF standards, and yes again "it's just a game", but within that game at least no one with your political matrix scores should won't an anarcho-capitalist like PiT anywhere near the presidency. If my server wasn't frozen I would link to his mindblowing views on making violent crimes including murder and rape punishable entirely through restitution to the victim.

What can I say, I like the guy (and yes I have read his views). I also like his VP candidate and they are two people that I respect even if I don't agree with them all the time. In addition I am basing my vote on the platforms of the different candidates and their platform wasn't so bad.  Like I said all the candidates are more or less equal in my mind and I don't really have a horse in the race.

On the other hand I do want to ensure that DWTL stays far from the senate. This made the deal enticing at first to me at least. But throwing Hashemite under the bus in the process was a no-no in my mind and most of the LNF had reservations for various reasons. I think what all of us agreed on was that any "deal" would have to be public. We are not the party of backroom dealing. Of course by that time it had become public and we were accused of being that exact thing. Oh well.

...which is the beauty of STV. I remember winning fairly easily both times I ran in STV elections, but, no, you never feel safe until near the end of the last day. Might be slightly different now that we have powerful political machines, but I suppose if there are multiple candidates...

Yeah, even if my chances are good, I never feel comfortable. I'm always scared of how things will turn out in the end because with so many voters and so many candidates, things always seem chaotic or uncertain.
