The United States just needs to be split up into several different nations.

They are already splitted. Blue vs. Red.
The Pacific west and the eastern part of the north is red. The rest is blue. Polarization and differences are growing.

I voted republicans, but after further thought I realized that the democrats would have more foreign allies

France and China vs Russia and Israel.  Now that would be epic.

In the end I imagine France would become the largest Jewish nation on the planet.

The upper mid west is also red.

Anyway, the vast majority of the country is really GOP. It's just the cities that control everything.

The blue has more square miles. What does it say?

You mean by square mileage?  This is an absurd way to determine this...whoever controlled Alaska would almost certainly win.

The United States would at least have to be split into 4 nations. Northeast/midwest, South(east), plains/rockies, and West Coast.

But 5 would be better, since theres NO WAY I'm getting stuck with California.

If Alaska is the vast majority of the country, sure.

Bush won 2.4 million square miles. Gore won 0.5 million.

Average murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by Bush:
2.1

Average murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by Gore:
13.2

Thats why I dont think guns should be illegal. Farmers and hicks have lots of guns and get along fine! Its not very nice to take away their toys. Besides, I want an AK-47 and maybe an uzi!

But I fail to see the point you are making with those statistics. And who had the time to fine the murder rates for 3000 counites anyway.

If there are one million people spread out in these blue states and seven billion people in these red states, the vast majority of the country is GOP territory.

That's all I'm saying. Going by people, it's obviously 50/50.

My point is that they should stop. Cities should control themselves and leave the rest of us alone.

My [other] point is that you can't split the country up based on state-by-state politics. The vast majority of California, for example, would still conflict with its politics.

But the vast majority of CaliforniaNS would be just fine. That is democracy for you.

And the cities don't really control everything. The electoral votes give more power to smaller states. And all states get 2 senators regardless of population.

But what you want is to take away voting rights of urbanites, giving the rural voters more power, letting the rural voters control everything and get into the business of the urbanites.

Please don't insult my way of life again.  I don't know of your experience with small towns or rural America, but it obviously isn't the same experience that I have had, which has been my entire life.

Typical liberal elitism.  A small town does not have anything a city does???

In the seminal "We," written by a Russian critic of the radicals in the early 20th century, the Russian civil war is between the cities and farms. The cities won once they figured out how to make food in factories.

There are many divides in the US, and in many other nations. Much worse ones in many nations. In that sense, most nations are 'headed' towards civil war- unless they avert it politically or militarily.

Depending on how long the war went on, the Democrats would gain an advantage, since we have the scientists and Harvard grads that the GOP doesn't. We also have an escape route, the right doesn't. I know I would fight for my side, and I'm confident in our victory.

Harvard grads matter little when it comes to expertise with weapons.  I don't know that technology (in terms of mass destruction) would matter with any future civil war.  If it did, the "red states" would have a loss less concern for the fate of cities than "blue staters" would have for open spaces and the environment.
