This is the official thread in which you can endorse fellow forum members and help support their quest to win their party's presidential nomination.

If you have no clue what I'm talking about, please see this thread.  Particularly this post.

A quick recap of what you do:

  • You have been given 5 endorsement points.  These are yours to give to as many candidates from either party as you like.  The profiles of all candidates are detailed below.
    `
  • Simply post here the name(s) of the candidate(s) you wish to endorse, and how many points you are giving them.  It doesn't matter if you give their username or their candidate's name.
`
  • This thread will stay open throughout the primary campaign, which means that you do not have to pledge support straight away.
`
  • Do not pledge more or less than 5 points.  If this happens, your endorsement will not be counted until it has been corrected.
`
  • If you change your mind after endorsing your candidates and wish to endorse somebody else, feel free to say so.  However, you'll need to make a new post and not edit your previous one, otherwise it likely won't be noticed.
`
  • Do not post your endorsements in the other (main) thread.  This wouldn't mean that you are disqualified or anything; you simply need to post your endorsements here instead.
`
  • As a precaution against 'illegal activities', endorsements will only be accepted from forum members with at least 50 posts to their name.  Furthermore, I'll be conducting IP checks on any accounts that I feel to be suspicious.
`

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here and I'll try and answer as quickly as possible.

---------

Notice to all candidates

If there is a mistake in your profile below, or if you want to make any changes, please notify me ASAP and I'll fix it.

Also, you too have 5 endorsement points to use as well, and I'd advise you to use them even if it's only on your own campaign.

A question, how much time do we have to make our endorsements?

You can make your endorsement at any point in the primary campaign, but the Iowa caucus will be in three days.

This thread ate my post, it should be between Franzl and Bens endorsements. WEB Dubois' appears to be missing as well. You can see them if you post a replay in the Topic Summary and if you view our posts in our profile.

I noticed that too, and I was about to ask if either of you had deleted your posts.  Luckily I'd already recorded both of them in my spreadsheet.

For the record, Quincy gave five points to Timothy Taylor (Purple State), and you gave five points to your campaign.

Question:
Let's say, we were getting to the last primaries. What would happen if you had 4 campaign points left, then someone who had previously endorsed you with 5 points changed their endorsement and only gave you 1? Even if you had a lead, would you be eliminated? Or what?

Basically, if you finish a stage and after new endorsement activity has been taken into account you have 0 credits, you're out; no matter how many delegates you have.  I know it's implausible, but then that scenario happening in this game is pretty unlikely.  Smiley

Joe, I'm not trying to tell you have to play your game, but I think it might be a good idea to give bonus to candidates who placed in the top four in a primary. For example:

Let take the Iowa Results:

Hudson came in first so she would get a 100% bonus toward NH
Cooper can in second so he would get a 75% bonus toward NH
Vasquez came in third so he would get a 50% bonus toward NH
Spencer came in fourth so he would get a 25% bonus toward NH

You know, that's not a bad idea.  I'm going to float this idea in a separate thread to see how the others feel about it.

Joe, I think it might be wise to put a limit on how many bouns tokens you can you in a state. It takes the fun out of the game when someone uses 20+ bouns tokens in the game, like tmth and Xahar. Tongue

But then they may have fewer to spend later. Besides, everybody will start attacking them Tongue

No, they will win the primary by 40 points or more and get alot of new tokens.

Candidates who win a primary can win no more than 5 credits, even if they win the primary by more than 5 percentage points.

thmthforu94 asked me if he could make a quick edit on the basis that he didn't initially realize that there is a limit to the number of credits you can win if you win the primary, so I unlocked the thread for five minutes.  This was a one-time favor.

Actually, Diane Dalton's remaining balance was 6 credits, so you have an extra credit to dish out.

Also, whoever you endorse (assuming it'll only be one person) will receive an additional 4% momentum bonus.

Since Lopez has dropped out of the race, can I transfer my two endorsement points that I gave her?

If so, I'd like to transfer them to Al's crazy "fight-the-anti-christ" character.

Lopez endorsed Taylor, thus giving him all remaining credits she had.  However, since 2 of them were from you, they can be transferred from Taylor to Finch after the current stage.

A suggestion: To involve those whoa aren't the nominees, perhaps there could be some third party candidates (weak, the goal would be to get a certain % of the popular vote) and/or allow former candidates to campaign for others in the general election.

For this particular primary and general campaign, there's only going to be two parties because I want to keep things as simple as possible.  But in the next game or two, I'll try and introduce a third party to spice things up.

Former candidates will be able to campaign for the eventual nominees in this general campaign, or at least provide some kind of beneficial effect, but I still need to work out the dynamics first.

Will you run games continuously or break it up a bit?

We'll see how my energy is doing after this one finishes.  Smiley
