With 76% of the vote in...

Bloomberg 50%
Thompson 47%

Local news networks are re-projecting race for Bloomberg.

Yeah, Bloomberg's ahead in Manhattan again and there's hardly anything left in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

Humorous while it lasted though.

Obama could have toppled Bloomberg, too bad he wants to keep his bipartisan coalition of important people who support his policies to include at least two people including Arnold.

With 80%

Mayor Bloomberg maintains only a 3% lead over Thompson. 50-47. Very, very interesting.

I thought Bloomberg was basically a shoe-in.  He was way up in polls.

We all did, this is a shocker to even the most political savvy New Yorkers. About 10% of precincts are left to report, we'll see what happens.

91% of votes in.

Bloomberg 50%
Thompson 47%

Areas left to report: Northern Staten Island (63% in), Southeastern Queens (predominately Black) between 70%-80% in, South Bronx (81% in).

I think this may be close to a tie. If a lot voted in SE Queens and S Bronx Thompson will win.

Bloomberg is winning by 50% to 46% with 93% reporting, but AP is saying it's still too close to call.

CNN Projects Bloomberg to win 51%-46%. It seems it is over. Bloomberg will remain mayor.

I will now accept my accolades

I tried to tell you what was going on.  I really tried.  This looks like a landslide close race, folks.

Amusingly, Republicans picked up John C. Liu's open (the next NYC Comptroller's - and a toilet, I thought) Council seat in Queens, giving them 4 out of 51 (lol).

Map!

59 is a surprise. And, yeah, Hispanic areas swung the wrong way.

Nice map Al.  Quick glance is that is pretty much a racial map of NYC.
