"Sex education" is a pointless waste of resources. I never needed some idiotic class to know what a condom is and about the mechanics and biological consequences of intercourse.

But then, I forget that so many people are so freaking dumb. Too bad they probably will end up reproducing, sex-ed or not.

1000% agree.

I thought you were a relatively decent person...

I can only speak on this as someone growing up in the modern internet generation, but then, so is everyone else today who would be a target of "sex-ed."

I wish I knew what my option was.  Is it some kind of middle ground?

It can be whatever you want it to be Tongue

Well I figured the poll poster had something in mind there.

Not really. I just know that you (like me) have strong opinions on sex and the like.

I don't believe abstinence-only is a good education but there are instances of taking the opposite too far and endorsing risky sexual behavior which is even worse, especially for public schools to be practicing.

Abstinence works.  Abstinence-only education doesn't work.

Horrible policy.

First, schools have the responsibility to educate students with accurate and comprehensive information and this absolutely extends to sexuality.

Second, kids will experiment sexually regardless, so not teaching them proper information just makes the situation worse. It's not a coincidence that the religious right states have the highest teen pregnancy rates.

Really, where are schools given this responsibility? Maybe they should try providing a real education instead, for a change.

Explain a "real education".

Explain a "real education".
At the primary level, it should be three Rs (reading, writing, arithmetic).

A complete education will include the study of English, foreign language, literature, the classics, mathematics, the natural sciences, history, geography, the social sciences, philosophy, the arts, rhetoric, critical thinking, etc. Possibly theology.

You know, a real education. As I said. No room for "sex-ed" there.

This guy is actually on the right track for once, but there's definitely room for Sex-ed. No need to have even more teenage mothers who got taught that it's "great to wait".

They obviously were not listening to what they were being told in class anyway. What makes you think they would practice safer sex if they were told to do so any more than they would practice abstinence if they were told to do so?

A thirty-second lesson in biology class provides all one needs to know about the consequences of sharing bodily fluids.

Well, it is a sad state of affairs that so many parents are gutless, non existent, buck passing and/or lazy bastards that they have to have the state do what they should be doing.

But only of a reactionary nature - I'm just riled about it because there is such a ridiculous focus on/obsession with this issue by our strange prudeo-religious society.
