Re: Atlasia v. Southeast (the independent voter roll which ignores HAEV rulings)

It has long been postulated that a Region could have an independent voter roll - Ernest and I in principle agreed that it was possible under the Second Constitution in 2005. That said, I would not consider it prudent policy to set up an independent voter roll, as in the past we have had problems maintaining even one.

The main reason for my prosecution is that the law allows someone who has been removed as a citizen of Atlasia is still a citizen of the SE, which is a region in Atlasia. How can that work? Smiley

Re: JBrase v. Atlasia

A new angle to the HAEV fight that I hadn't thought of, and I have to say I think its a very worthy challenge that JBrase should certainly not drop.

I'll keep my own counsel on this one - but I do think its a good chance (one of few given the realities of Atlasia) to test the waters of the delegation doctrine.

Bump.

Why is it, that the populares have such a penchant for stumbling into the most head shakingly, dumb mistakes that often involve the person getting prosecuted? Tongue

I don't understand it either. They must think it's some sort of conspiracy but all it boils down to is their bizarre habit of breaking or contradicting the law more often than anyone else.

They need a good legal time on call 24/7 to avoid making such mistakes.

Is there irony in the fact that the one who wanted no trial and preferred to skip to the hanging is going to get one anyway, while the one that probably most wanted a trial for sake of resolving the controversy, isn't going to get one?

There has been a lot of public commenting in the case threads and that has been historically frowned upon by the justices in the past. Therefore I am bumping this thread in light of the fact that their are two active cases currently.

After reading through, I must say, I think we would be setting a dangerous precedent if Tweed won ths.

I have but three letters to say:

LOL

Seriously though, even if it is frivolous as all hell, Tweed's suit is simply a stroke of genius.

Not two minutes after retiring from this game for the forseeable future (seriously!) I've been alerted to Tweed's lawsuit. While I don't have a horse on the race, allow me to just echo BK's "LOL". Grin

I want to see Tweed win, "for the lulz". Bgwah ought not to recuse himself.

As the former holder of the office of [Northeast CJO], I would say it's safe to say that this case has its grounds in an overtly political reading of the Constitution, and thus would be dismissed as frivolous. In hindsight it's clear we have a dangerously sympathetic court.

I, along with (I'd assume) many other Atlasians (including several in the Labor & Whig parties), are publicly voicing their concern and whatnot about Tweed's lawsuit (which I am very concerned about publicly), while privately hoping Tweed triumphs (as Simfan put it) 'for the lulz'.

This is likely what we're all thinking.

It would spell civil war. And I wouldn't be able to stop laughing.

I would support the lawsuit if it leads to a reset of Atlasia(constitutional convention), not just an amendment.

I'm fairly certain that the new president would have to actually act unconstitutionally for a case like this to be entertained.  The mere election of one whom you don't trust will act within the bounds of the Constitution is not, in itself, illegal.

That's part of the argument in my amicus brief. I'm waiting to post it until the Whig Party finishes voting on whether or not to endorse. Simfan seemingly doesn't have quite the sense of urgency or drama that I do (not necessarily a bad thing, don't get me wrong) and he called for a twenty-four-hour vote throughout this calendar day.

The Liberal Party is voting on whether to endorse too, so I'll let you know when our position is decided tomorrow.

it is important that we remember exactly what we are dealing with: a website, a bunch of zeroes and ones.  there is no material Atlasia.  all that there is is the institution.  even the most diehard dialectical materialist would have to admit that real-world 'laws' of nature cannot apply here.

Nonsense. Atlas is as real as the ground underneath my feet, which, of course, is in Atlasia.
