Ok let's say that Clinton was taking a break from watching a football game, and standing outside on the front lawn on October 29, 1994 whn Francisco Martin Duran fired at least 29 shots with a semi-automatic rifle at the White House from a fence overlooking the north lawn. Duran gets extremley luckley and hits the President in a vital area, before being restled to the ground by onlooking tourists. The 42nd President succcumbs to his wounds two days later, and on Halloween 1996...Albert "Al" Gore Jr. of Tennessee is sworn in as the nation's 43rd Presidents.

We do see some slight Butterflies after the Assassination, The GOP still takes back over both chambers of Congress, but don't feel to need to be so antagonisitc against the new President. Around the Thanksgiving Holiday, Gore annouced his VP pick...Former Governor Douglas Wilder of Virgina. The first African American to be nominated, Wilder is quickly confirmed by the Senate as the nations 46th Vice President. Event's leading up to the OK City Bombing still happens, Their is no Government Shutdown, and The economy is still performing wonderfully.

In the GOP Primaries...Senator Bob Dole of Kansas decides against running for the nomination leaving the race essentially wide up. The race became a two-person slugfest between Social Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan of D.C. and Moderate Bussinessman Steve Forbes of New York. However, Forbes is able to win more of the delegates and therefore bareley clinch the nomination. To shore up his considerable lack of foreign policy expierence, Forbes tapped 70 year old, former Reagan UN Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick of Oklahoma as his running mate. The Gore/Wilder ticket would also have to fight off against former Governor Dick Lamm of Colorado, who was able to best Ross Perot for the Reform Party nomination. Lamm chose economist Pat Choate as his runningmate, and with both Gore and Forbes being the fair gents they are allow them in the three debates(Two POTUS for Domestic and Foriegn, One for VP).

So how would the election turn out...?

Lamm would not have gotten much poll numbers. Remember Perot had the cash and would get matching funds because of his '92 run; not the Reform Party.

Any ideas on what the map might look like?
