At first I thought this was bad news for McCain, seeing as how he won 77% in 2004 & 69% in 1998. Then I read the poll & found out this was a matchup against Napolitano. Seeing as how she is the strongest candidate the Democrats are hoping for, perhaps McCain is in pretty good shape.

ROTFLMAO!

First, the ASU poll is known in Arizona as the 'Crank' poll.  Totally unreliable.

Second,  it ignores the primary.  McCain is more popular among liberal Democrats than among conservative Republicans.

I wouldn't call having a 9 point lead when you won with 77% in 2004 as "having no problem".

Leading by 9% against a popular former Governor as opposed to leading by 57% against a random sacrificial lamb? It suggests some decline, but still isn't horrible. However, it's a university poll, & apparently no exception to the rule that university polls are terrible.

Like PiT said already, if McCain leads by 9 against Napolitano, just imagine how much he is in the lead against (insert sacrificial lamb Democratic candidate here). Especially considering that Napolitano is the strongest Democrat out there and it's already obvious now that she won't be the nominee.
