http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO FEEL FREE TO SUBMIT ME THEIR ANSWERS AND WHY

my answers and why:
If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations.
Agree. If it's a black-and-white, I pick humanity, but it is a complex issue that is not black-and-white.

I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong.
Disagree. I'd stand against it when needed.

No one chooses his or her country of birth, so it's foolish to be proud of it.
Strongly Disagree. I can be proud of whatever the hell I damn well please, and so can anyone else.

Our race has many superior qualities, compared with other races.
Disagree. I don't like the implication that any race is "superior" but at the same time, I will accept that some ethnic groups tend towards certain physical appearance traits (for example two "Chinese" people will, likely, produce a "Chinese" baby), and that some people can favour certain traits (I like blondes) which can then impact the above (not many "Chinese" people are naturally blonde). That is why I only Disagree and not "Strongly" so

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Strongly Disagree. Hitler and Stalin were not fond of one another. I don't want either as a friend.

Military action that defies international law is sometimes justified.
Strongly Agree. International law is weak and impotent. It would suggest you say "please stop" as a nation aims its missiles, and only allows a response after a number of your citizens are dead and portions of your cities are flat.

There is now a worrying fusion of information and entertainment.
Agree. I agree it's happening, and agree it's worrying. I do not "strongly" do so because I believe that entertainment can inform if done correctly.

People are ultimately divided more by class than by nationality.
Agree. To a point, the rich lead similar lives to the rich elsewhere, and the poor to other poor.

Controlling inflation is more important than controlling unemployment.
Disagree. It's better to have everyone able to afford half of what they want than half able to afford nothing they want.

Because corporations cannot be trusted to voluntarily protect the environment, they require regulation.
Strongly agree. Because corporations cannot be trusted.

"from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is a fundamentally good idea.
Disagree. Does not take want into account.

It's a sad reflection on our society that something as basic as drinking water is now a bottled, branded consumer product.
Strongly Disagree. If people will buy it (and pay taxes doing so) it is a great thing.

Land shouldn't be a commodity to be bought and sold.
Strongly Disagree. Similar to reasons above

It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society.
Strongly Agree. Capitalism has no method to reward the "good"

Protectionism is sometimes necessary in trade.
Agree. Sometimes, but not as much as people think.

The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders.
Strongly Disagree. That is not even a social responsibility.

The rich are too highly taxed.
Strongly Disagree. The rich are not taxed enough.

Those with the ability to pay should have the right to higher standards of medical care .
Strongly agree. If it's standards you are talking about, then yes.

Governments should penalise businesses that mislead the public.
Strongly agree. Otherwise they all will

A genuine free market requires restrictions on the ability of predator multinationals to create monopolies.
Agree. National boundaries prevent the creation of a global free market, and failing such, it is required to use those national borders to help the national market act as though the borders do not exist. Example: Cornering the market in one country is harder than the world, so just because laws let you do so in that one country, does not make this a free market situation. Therefore that country should indeed use those laws to prevent you from doing so.

The freer the market, the freer the people.
Agree. In general, this is true.

Abortion, when the woman's life is not threatened, should always be illegal.
Strongly Disagree. I disagree with banning abortion.

All authority should be questioned.
Strongly Disagree. This would lead to the breakdown of society

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
Strongly Agree. It should also be able to over-ride the "limited" part of a corporation.

Taxpayers should not be expected to prop up any theatres or museums that cannot survive on a commercial basis.
Strongly Agree. If art does not sell, it is because it is bad art. If it was good art, people would buy it. If I don't want to spend money on bad art (buying it) why would I want to spend money on bad art (tax grants)

Schools should not make classroom attendance compulsory.
Strongly Disagree. That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Let's just let our youth run about in the muck naked while we are at it.

All people have their rights, but it is better for all of us that different sorts of people should keep to their own kind.
Disagree. Though I am not fully certain what this means.

Good parents sometimes have to spank their children.
Strongly Agree. I turned out fine

It's natural for children to keep some secrets from their parents.
Strongly Agree. Thats why they are secrets

Possessing marijuana for personal use should not be a criminal offence.
Strongly Disagree. Most murders on Toronto's streets are from gang related crime - people shooting one another over who can sell the stuff. I will not support crime by legalizing this.

The prime function of schooling should be to equip the future generation to find jobs.
Strongly Agree. Everyone needs a job.

People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce.
Strongly Disagree. Anyone who answers anything but instantly loses all my respect.

The most important thing for children to learn is to accept discipline.
Strongly Disagree. There are tonnes of other things children need to accept.

There are no savage and civilised peoples; there are only different cultures.
Strongly Agree. They only appear savage to us because our culture is different.

Those who are able to work, and refuse the opportunity, should not expect society's support.
Strongly Disagree. "Able" can be used in perverted ways.

When you are troubled, it's better not to think about it, but to keep busy with more cheerful things.
Agree. Generally a good idea, but in extremes, can be bad.

First-generation immigrants can never be fully integrated within their new country.
Strongly Disagree. Depends on how much they want to integrate.

What's good for the most successful corporations is always, ultimately, good for all of us.
Strongly Disagree. Pure BS.

No broadcasting institution, however independent its content, should receive public funding.
Disagree. Some countries would not have broadcasting without a government station.

Our civil liberties are being excessively curbed in the name of counter-terrorism.
Strongly Disagree. Only because there is no stronger way I can disagree in this test.

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.
Strongly Agree. That is an advantage. The disadvantage is it takes away Democracy.

Although the electronic age makes official surveillance easier, only wrongdoers need to be worried.
Strongly Agree. Privacy should not be a cover for breaking the law.

The death penalty should be an option for the most serious crimes.
Strongly Agree. Though I believe that prison may be a harsher punishment for some.

In a civilised society, one must always have people above to be obeyed and people below to be commanded.
Disagree. We are not a giant hierarchy.

Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all.
Strongly Agree. You have no business defining what I think of as art. No one does.

In criminal justice, punishment should be more important than rehabilitation.
Strongly Agree. Rehawhatnow?

It is a waste of time to try to rehabilitate some criminals.
Strongly Agree. Replace "some" with "all"

The businessperson and the manufacturer are more important than the writer and the artist.
Agree. They make things, real things.

Mothers may have careers, but their first duty is to be homemakers.
Strongly Disagree. Mothers can do whatever the hell they damn well please.

Multinational companies are unethically exploiting the plant genetic resources of developing countries.
Agree. Ethical companies would be more respectful.

Making peace with the establishment is an important aspect of maturity.
Strongly Agree. It is the only aspect.

Astrology accurately explains many things.
Strongly Disagree. It's BS for idiots to eat.

You cannot be moral without being religious.
Strongly Disagree. Religion is more BS for other idiots to eat.

Charity is better than social security as a means of helping the genuinely disadvantaged.
Strongly Disagree. Right, like the "Christian" children fund is going to be best at helping Muslims.

Some people are naturally unlucky.
Strongly Disagree. Luck is much more complicated than this.

It is important that my child's school instills religious values.
Strongly Disagree. If it dares to even try to, I will grab him from his desk, and run with him out the door.

Sex outside marriage is usually immoral.
Strongly Disagree. Depends on who and why. For some yes, but to paint good people with the bad brush is not on.

A same sex couple in a stable, loving relationship, should not be excluded from the possibility of child adoption.
Strongly Agree. Why the hell should they be excluded?

Pornography, depicting consenting adults, should be legal for the adult population.
Strongly Agree. Why the hell not?

What goes on in a private bedroom between consenting adults is no business of the state.
Strongly Agree. See above

No one can feel naturally homosexual.
Strongly Disagree. No one can tell me or anyone else what they can or cannot feel. I will feel whatever the hell I damn well want to feel whenever the hell I damn well choose to feel it, thank you.

These days openness about sex has gone too far.
Disagree. I don't see that much of a problem with it, but the "sluttyness" is getting to much.

This is the furthest left I've ever been.

A Chat with Andrew... C.T.

TPTTAA

Andrew, if I may call you that, you've recently be elected to the Senate.

While this is a new term and you are not a sitting incumbent, you have been in the Senate before. You have also held offices before other than Senator. You were Governor of the North East for quite a while.

Which office that you have held in the past do you think was the most enjoyable?

AndrewCT

Yes, I shall give you the honor of being one of the few who may call me Andrew.

Yes, I've served several offices in Atlasia. I've been a Chief Judicial Officer for the Northeast, Governor, at-large Senator, Northeast Senator, Presidential Candidate, and a Northeast Representative. I've enjoyed my time in all of these offices and positions, but I would truely have to say that the most enjoyable office I've ever held would be Governor of the Northeast. I realized that when after my Presidential run, the Northeast was in such a stall, that nobody wanted to run for Governor or Lt. Governor. The people of the region decided to write me in as Governor, without me even asking or speaking of any interest.

TPTTAA

Is there one bill, law, or act, that you helped pass in your time in any of the various offices that you held that you are most proud of? That you are happiest that you were a part of?

AndrewCT

That is a difficult one to answer. I spent nearly 5 terms as Governor, so I've seen a lot of bills and laws come my way... but I would have to say one that I'm happiest to have been a part (a very small part) of was the creation of the Northeast Assembly. At the time, the Northeast was in a real slump, activity had nearly died out, and we just werent doing well. When people got together and started to draft this, people got really excited, and the region has been booming ever since.

TPTTAA

What would you say was your most hard-fought victory? An issue that was controversial, but that you managed to push over the top? And alternately, what issue that was very close did you lose on despite a hard battle?

AndrewCT

ERROR, UNABLE TO ANSWER QUESTION. MUST NOT SHOW WEAKNESS.

TPTTAA

Would you consider running for President one day?

AndrewCT

With all honesty, I really would consider it. I had a blast when I ran for President last time, and would have the chance to be backed for a Presidential run again.

TPTTAA

Ah interesting. *interviewer realizes something* humm *interviewer smiles* I don't suppose you have anyone in mind for a VP pick? *used car salesman smile*

AndrewCT

I certainly do.. I actually have 3 people in mind that I've wanted to run with for a few years now... But nobody is going to know until I actually do run again Smiley

TPTTAA

Ah, thank you for taking the time to talk with us

Talking to some "Nut"

TPTTAA

Thank you for joining us.

So... you you've decided to "return" to "Atlasia"... whyyyy?

Polnut

Indeed.
I've been away, but have been keeping a close eye on Atlasia. I'm back, and I'm ready to contribute in whatever way I can.

TPTTAA

...and yet you QUIT! Are you aware that babies cried when you quit... BABIES!!! cried!!!! Why did you leave in the first place?!??!?one?!?!

Polnut

I personally doubt anyone, even babies cried when I left.

It was a bit of a rollercoaster, and frankly I needed to have a breather to recharge the batteries, get a better perspective. I think I'd be much more use with a rest.

That's really it.

TPTTAA

Riiight. So tell me, now that you are "back" what aer you plans? Do you wish to become a prominent voice in your assembly? Run for Governor? President?

Polnut

Frankly, I don't know what my specific plans are. I'm happy to play whatever role is required. If that's in some elected capacity, that's fine, but I'm not seeking a particular position. For me it's about making things better if I can

TPTTAA

Tell us a bit more about yourself. You say you are a pol nut. Is that like a wall nut? How old are you? And when did you "first" join Atlasia.

Polnut

Yeah, a bit - I do prefer macadamias though.
I'm probably old enough to know better and I first became active in Atlasia a little under 4 years ago.

TPTTAA

Supposedly... and in this time, what has been your supposed highest elected position? And have you been responsible for any major legislation?

Polnut

Well, I was Governor of the Mideast from October 2006 until May 2007 - I ensured that same-sex couples would be fully recognised in the region (to cover any existing gaps with the Federal laws), created the most thorough mental health treatment system in the country and worked to improve environmental standards.

I certainly was not a perfect Governor, and made mistakes along the way. Losing the 2007 Progressive Primary for the Presidency probably was my biggest disappointment. But that's water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned.

TPTTAA

...Alright, we will send this off to our psychoanalyst interview department, and it should be posted very shortly.

Searching For... TEH TURTH

This statement was made recently a short time ago just now.

We disbanded. A majority of us went to the POP, but a lot has either stayed Independent or made their own little party.

We went to POP? Huh I think some RPP:ers might take offense to that statement. Tongue

Lets find out the reality.

11 members disbanded the DA, of them, they joined these parties:

Interview with Benc

TPTTAA
Hello and welcome! How are you today?

benconstine
I'm doing pretty good, thanks.  I'm preparing the first issue of the Nyman Times at the moment.

TPTTAA
Thats wonderful... er, what is that exactly

benconstine
The Nyman Times is a paper that I launched today, and which will have its first issue tomorrow in all probability.  I seek to bring back good, old fashioned Atlasian newspapers.

TPTTAA
What will you have in this "newspaper"

benconstine
It will be a mix of news and opinion, with a heavy tilt towards the news.  For an example of what I intend to follow, see the Examiner paper that Jas used to publish.

TPTTAA
Why have you decided to start a newspaper?

benconstine
I realized that there really weren't any good ways for people to find out what was going on, and that was driving people away from Atlasia.  This was an attempt to bring people back in.

TPTTAA
ARE YOU INSULTING THIS NEWSPPAPER!!? >.<

benconstine
Not at all, no.  I view my paper as being different from the current Atlasian papers; one less concerned with interviews, and more concerned with just reporting the news; being, in a way, a summary of what's going on in Atlasia.

TPTTAA
LIES!!! >.< THIS INTERVIEW IS OBER

benconstine

MIDEAST GOVERNORS RACE
A RACE TO THE BOTTOM

Earlier, we received a PM.

Governor Tmthforu94 would be more than happy to do an interview for TPTTAA. Smiley Just send me the questions.

We sent him a question... a question he never bothered to respond to!

After this, we asked a question to NiK

A question that HE never answered.

So... what are they hiding?

We already know that Timothy Florscu is a secret Romanian... but what does NiK have to hide... perhaps that his name is Nick! Or perhaps, even worse... his name is not even Nick at all!!!

Four way race for President shaping up!

Fritz and Kal for the JCP
Andrew and Duke for the POP and RPP
Naso and write-in Teddy for the RPP
and Teddy and Teddy also for the RPP

TPTTAA endorses the Teddy and Teddy ticket, and also endorses Teddy for all 5 Senate offices, and the at-large election.

We asked Teddy if he will be accepting write ins.
