Please post any ideas you have for five region maps here. Each member may only post three maps, although they are allowed to post only one or two. The ten best proposals will be put in a poll, and a maximum of one proposal per member will be on that poll. The poll will commene on the 15th, so you have about a week for proposals.

Happy mapping!

Proposal Hugh-A

In this proposal there are ten states per region, and the regions make geographic sense-West, Central Plains, South, Midwest, Northeast.

Porposal Hugh-B

In this map the regions have equal EVs (or close to, they all have approx. 109). This wouldn't represent actual forum members, however, and therefore I prefer proposal A.

Proposal Hugh-C will come later Smiley

6 region map, based primarily on current voter registration -- I think it's fair, and it allows for each candidate to win 3 regions, having a closer, more exciting election.

Are the states grouped alphabetically in this map?

How about this, 5 regions:

You have Northeast, South, Midwest, Heartland, and Pacific.

This plan REALLY limits the political power of our souther friends on the forum.  (sends a suspicious glance toward Miami)

I think that, before we determine the exact maps, we ought to determine first the number of regions and the basis for their formation (10 states per region; voter registration; real-life electoral votes; etc.)

There is an overwhelming concensus that we are having 5 regions in the US, with perhaps a sixth for ints. So, these are 5 region maps, using many different proposals, from geography, to 10 state-size, to current EV-size, etc. for the proposals. the best map will get the most votes, whatever proposal it uses, and that would determine our system.

I consider that Miamiu's map is most logical in geographical and historical sense. Hughento's version A is also good one.

But which version is best for Atlas democracy? There is only one active member in Miamiu's region "Heartland", Mr Fresh of Idaho!

There's Immy from Idaho as well, he's been fairly active in the fantasy elections.

This map is based on voter registration in the Atlas.
The Southern, Western, and New York/New England regions have nine registered voters, the others have 10.

Although I noticed these figures don't include JFK in California, which would make that Eastern extension of the West unnecessary. Instead, Missouri might be put into the South.

There are currently 110 residents with over 18 posts. However, 8 of them don't have an avatar.

In this proposal, those without an avatar would vote in the Upper Midwest.
New York/New England 21
New Jersey to Michigan 24
Upper Midwest 11 plus 8
South 24
West 22

Although it's maybe wiser to just ignore those without an avatar.
