No, generally. There are exceptions though (excessive force, leaving scars, etc.)

The red states still allow corporal punishment in public schools.

I'm surprised Utah doesn't allow corporate punishment in schools. I thought Mormons liked firm discipline.

It is disturbing that close to half the states still allow corporal punishment...

That's only corporate punishment in schools. I'm sure much more allow corporal punishment at home.

I find it hypocrticail how liberals say that they want the govt. out of people's personal lives, yet they butt in when a parent spanks his child and want to send that parent to jail. Spaking should remain legal. The only cases where it should be illegal is if it leaves lasting marks.
