Bush retires after 12 years in the executive branch.

John Sununu of New Hampshire wins the Republican nomination over Bob Dole and Dan Quayle. He selects Jack Kemp as his running mate.

Governor Mario Cuomo of New York wins the Democratic primary over Harkin and Clinton. Cuomo selects Senator Chuck Robb as his running mate. Perot declines to run.

How would this election turn out:

John Sununu (R-NH)/Jack Kemp (R-NY)

Mario Cuomo (D-NY)/Charles Robb (D-VA)

Was Sununu Sr. eglible for the Presidency? He was born in Havana and I can't find anywhere if he was natural-born citizen of the U.S.

I think he was, but as I said, I can't find an confirmation.

And guy like Sununu would never win national election.

Cuomo would win in a landslide because Bush Sr. and the Republicans would be blamed for the poor economy and because people would be tired of 12 years of Republican rule.

Beside, Sununu Sr. was unelectable at national level.

That is extremely reminiscent of the 2000 map.

I think Cuomo wins around 290 electoral votes.

Give MO to Cuomo and possibly NH and AZ as well. Yes, I know Sununu is from New Hampshire, but the poor economy will be a large minus for him.
