The tsunami killed about 230,000 people. We're getting numbers all over the place from Haiti. I doubt it.

Directly due to the quake, e.g. died from being trapped in a building, no.

Possibly in the humanitarian disaster that will follow.

The initial estimate is 40-50 k.  That isn't going to be the main cause.  It's water, food and disease over the next months.

Uh... who cares?  I am more interested with the human suffering factor than putting a rare figure on how many people will be killed.  You sound as though you are eagerly awaiting to "break the record."

I'm just at a loss as to why you would think about this, and then why it was so on your mind that you felt that you must start a new thread about it.

Just the latest natural disaster I could think of. People always compare things on here. Don't assume so much about people.

And to lower the odds a bit ... .

This might violate policy, but I hope not.

As I've indicated, my cousin runs a Christian based health clinic in Haiti.  It is medical missionary work.  It was about miles of epicenter.

If any of you would like to make a donation, just PM me, and I'll give you the website.  Yes, it was the local news in Phila tonight; it is based in NJ.

Donations are tax deductible, and they are interested in material aid as well, including:

Food:  Powder Millk, Powder Baby Formula, Dry Rice, Dry Beans

Medicine:  Acetaminophen (all strengths), Ibuprofen (all strengths), Multivitamins (adult and children), Creams:  antibiotic, antifungal, hydrocortisone, Sterile Gauze, Prescription Antibiotics

Laptop Computers, Generators

They have been running it for about 11 years.

[I posted this on another thread as well]

They are now burning the bodies because there is no space to bury them.

Supersucks once again proves how  much of a dumb jerk he really is.  It was a simple question and the man with 9 college degrees read too much into it.

However, I'm not going to answer the poll.  I hope it's far less than the tsunami.
