I'll try and not hijack this thread. Hopefully you won't let it become inactive like last time, BushOK.

I feel yah. My family is already pressuring me into finding a mate, and I'm only 21. Tongue

As for me, I'm currently talking to this blond girl, which, hopefully, will end up better than things did with my ex-asian mistress. It's better that I didn't sleep with her first, as this is more of a traditional courting than anything else. I don't think I like her that much though, because she's more of a tomboy type that likes sports and such. I prefer the ditzy types.

A fast food restaurant? I couldn't think of a worse place to take a girl, especially on a date. I'd avoid that like the plague, if such exists.

I'd never, ever, ever, ever go to IHOP myself, much less on a date. I do realize Charleston has a wealth of good, locally owned places, so maybe I am just out of touch. I'd feel insulted to go to IHOP on a date though.

Things must be a little different in Oklahoma than in Charleston or North Carolina. I'm glad it worked out for you! Next time, have her cook for you. The best part about a girl, I find, outside of sex, is her ability to cook and clean. This girl I know always cleans my dorm for me on the weekends and helps with my laundry. Next year, she promised to cook for me and my roommate every night - as long as we provided the food to do so, of course.

I think you've got even more incentive to lose weight now! A good early date idea is to cook together ... find something that's semi-difficult to make and give it a shot. You learn a lot about each other in situations like that: whether she's a follower or leader, a planner or someone who dives into things, messy or clean or OCD ... it can be a fun activity.

That way you can keep your meals healthy for you, too!

That's a good idea.  She does fix meals for her mother and her grandmother, so I know she can cook.  I may have to have her fix me up a little dish of something and then teach me how to cook, too, so if we do end up tying the knot, I can help her in the kitchen or even cook her some meals.

Don't simply ask her to cook for you. Try to get her to offer. The first time I got my current girl to cook for me, we were sitting in the dining hall on campus, and I started saying how I missed my mom's egg salad, to which she offered to make it for me. The rest was history.

Only ironic celebrities and Oklahomans can get away with taking a date to IHOP.

Its food fare is crap. Other than that, if you are on a limited budget, it is OK for a date. Don't pretend to be what you are not. I would recommend however, after eating the pancake crap (bad for the diet, and its non breakfast food is almost non-digestible), I would suggest some activity with well, lower lights, even if it is making out in a car. JMO.

We're still quite a ways from that, yet.  She is comfortable with giving me a little peck on the cheek, which is fine, but neither of us are comfortable with advancing, yet.  The thing I'm going to have to get used to is she told me she's not a very affectionate person such as hand-holding and stuff like that.  She likes to hug, but as far as holding hands, she's not too keen on that.  It doesn't mean she doesn't love me, but that its just not her cup of tea.

You're already using the term 'love' to describe your affection? It took me 5 months to tell my last long term girlfriend I loved her, and I never got to tell the more current one's that, yet. That's pretty fast to move!

It's just so foreign to me that anyone would propose 14 days after meeting, or even 14 months after meeting a bit early. When I meet a girl, I never think about a marriage or anything, but rather I take it day by day, and let things flourish or falter as they may. Relationships can be an adventure, and it's always a little much to be planning for a marriage that early. But, it each his own.

I still say BushOK is a troll or is just messing with us all at the very least.

But he's my Facebook friend! He's real!

Well that settles it. It's time to focus on a Christmas wedding! Let's all make plans! I'll bring the SoCo, eggnog and Christmas Ale!

Aren't proposals supposed to be meaningful and a surprise for the girl? I've never heard of someone planning on when they will propose. What's the point if it's already been decided? Just give her the ring!

We're headed toward second base, currently, on our trip around the bases as the ball is already out of the park.  I hit a home run with this girl.

Wow. That's really poetic, BushOK. Skillful use of the metaphor there.

I'm still in the camp that supports a Christmas wedding. I'm actually disappointed that it looks like it may not happen. What better than snow, eggnog and Southern Comfort, and presents?!

Uh oh. For your sake, I hope she's just sick and this isn't the beginning of a disease that may plague this relationship.

Great News!!!  She called me this morning and she feels much, much better Smiley  We are going to see Alice at 3:00 today in 3D and go to dinner afterwards.  I got smart, too, and bought the movie tickets online so we don't have any of this sold out crap that we ran into last week.

I want to warn you. I saw Alice in IMAX last weekend, and I swear I felt like I was on some sort of hallucinogenic drug. Not a good feeling either.

I, for one, don't understand why you all should wait for the wedding. Why prolong what is given in this circumstance? I'll go out on a limb and say the wedding will occur early next year at the latest, and a Christmas wedding is not out of the question.

This has the potential to be the best build up to an April Fools Day thread...EVER!

I was thinking the same thing, but the rational side of me says this is all true.

Arguments are healthy in a relationship, sure, but i hope this doesn't end up like the last one. I'm beginning to sense that she may be getting cold feet, but maybe that is just me and only me. I would hate for this to start down that path over the next few days.
