It's also interesting that Brown denied "hitting anyone" when he hadn't actually been accused of hitting anyone.

He's been accused of shoving people. That's hitting.

Surely Christine Pratt mouthing to the BBC about workers at Number 10 calling her helpline is a betrayal of confidentiality, right?

Think that would only be the case if names were mentioned. Though, the way these things work, in practice it probably is.

It most certainly is.

A lot of this story has been exaggerated already. A lie can get around the world before the truth gets its boots on.

Brown may well have yelled at staff, I'll accept that.

Brown may well have lost his temper a lot, but I don't think he's physically violent.

Yeah. He seems like the type who could throw some violent words around and get extremely carried away, but it's hard to imagine him getting physically violent.

I've met him, by the way. He seemed a nice bloke.

And thats all that matters I take it?

Of course not. Appearances can be deceiving.

Yelling. Isn't that what bosses do?

BTW, "Bullying Helpline" is the UK's number 2 trending topic on Twitter... yes, this has officially spun out of control for Brown HQ. Bullying UK has accused NBH of breaching confidentiality.

Continues in the Guardian

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/feb/21/gordon-brown-tantrums-downing-street

The Guardian spoke today to a former senior No 10 adviser to Gordon Brown, who insisted the stories, including the concern of the cabinet secretary, were "100% correct". Rawnsley said: "This is not tittle-tattle or gossip. The sources were 24-carat. They were not third-hand, second-hand, but first-hand."

Apparently, there's a blatent smear campaign against Christine Pratt. Tongue

To me, it seems more like a smear campaign against Gordon Brown/Labour actually.

Girls who have slept with Ashley Cole. Besides Cheryl Cole, presumably.

A print screen of the NBH homepage, with the endorsements from Cameron and Widdecombe highlighted.

What a surprise!

British gossip magazines are of a far higher standard than ours if they're actually discussing politics at all ("Tories panic at poll slump"), let alone mentioning it on the front page.

That's not a "gossip magazine"... at least not officially. That's a tabloid daily.

Yes, it's a national newspaper (albeit a tabloid). The reason I poosted it is that the Mirror is pretty much the last 'major' tabloid that's taking a pro-Labour stance, hence the utter lack of any mention of this story on their front page Smiley

Things would have to get very strange for the Mirror to abandon Labour.

Whaddaya mean major? What else is there?

I'd class The Sun/NOTW and The Mirror as the major tabloids (ie the ones that actually seem to have sway when it comes to their political leanings), and of course The Sun decided to back Cameron a few months ago. The other tabloids (The Star, Sunday People etc) either don't bother with political opinion or it's not what their readers buy it for.

I didn't see it, but I'm no longer sure about this charity woman's reliability. Good summary here:
