Let's say Spiro Agnew never accepted any bribes or anything illegal and thus never resigned, how do you think an Agnew Presidency would've been? What sort of policies do you think a President Agnew would've pursued? Domestic? Would he have continued detente?

Some historians believe Agnew resigning actually helped seal Nixon's eventual resignation--That the prospect of a President Agnew intimidated the Congress greatly enough that they may not have as eagerly sought to impeach Nixon; These historians feel Nixon should've kept Agnew on as a form of ''insurance'--This idea of ''insurance'' is part of why he picked Ford, as he felt Ford was so unpresidential that Congress would not impeach him simply to avoid a Ford presidency. But barring Congressional fear of an Agnew Presidency, how do you think 1974-1977 or 1981 would've been like had Spiro Agnew been inaugurated in August 1974?

Gov. John Connally of Texas was Nixon's first and most preferred choice to replace Agnew, and with thoughts of his own possible exit from office in mind considered Connally the best fit to replace him as President and the most electable for 1976. But he knew Connally would never get confirmed by the Congress. However, had Congress confirmed Conally, similarily, what do you think a President Connally would've been like? Domestic and foreign policies?

And last but not least--Nelson Rockefeller was also a MAJOR candidate to replace Agnew as VP, and he had strong support in the liberal wing of the GOP. Same questions as above for a President Rockefeller.
