February 6, 2011 - President Clinton holds her State of the Union address at the University of Virginia.  She outlines a troop surge in Afghanistan, introduces sweeping education reforms, and introduces a new bill that she and her economic advisors project will lower the employment rate substantially.  Similar to Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration.  She proposes a plan that projects to stabilize unemployment at 7 percent.  She also proposes further expansions to Health Care reform.  While some of the policies introduced are controversial to some, most agree with the plans and her approval ratings increase further.

Romney needs to quit. He probably thinks he is doing well because he won New Hampshire. But, the New Hampshire victory was the peak and now he is going down hill fast.

We're gonna get to that.  But yeah, Thune stole alot of his thunder.

It is kind of like Huckabee and Thompson in the 2008 south carolina primary. If Thompson had not been there, then Huckabee probably would have beaten McCain in South Carolina.

If Thune had not been in the race, then Romney would have likely won a lot more of these contests than he actually did.

It's a good thing too.

Timeline Cont.

8:22 P.M.  Secretary of State Clinton boards a plane bound back to the United States.  She releases a brief statement at the airport, condemning the reports and noting that her husband was among those in attendance.  She is obviously shaken.

8:24 P.M.  The United States military lands helicopters around the Capitol Building and the White House.  Washington D.C. is under military control.

8:29 P.M.  A federal judge rules that the "Designated Survivor" is constitutionally the Acting President of the United States until survivors can be sorted out.

8:30 P.M.  Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius is declared Acting President, and immediately grounds all commercial aircraft in the United States.  She raises DHS alert level to red, and the DEFCON level is raised to 3.

.[/i][/center]

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would immediately assume the powers of the Presidency. The "designated survivor" is not the next in line to the Presidency. Clinton was the defacto designated survivor by not being in the country.

Not entirely true.  Clinton was out of the country during this year's State of the Union, and there was still a Designated Survivor.  Sebelius was the only person that was close to the action and could act, so she was declared Acting President.  Once Clinton was able to assume the role, she did.

Clinton would have still succeeded the Presidency. In the digital and information age, Clinton is capable of managing from afar or appointing someone on the field to manage.

My point still stands, Clinton was defacto designated survivor even with a random person staying home and watching it on TV. It would be unconstitutional to swear in Sebilus when Clinton is clearly alive.

It's time for Huckabee to concede. Like 2012 will be in real life, his base is limited mainly to the South, which will cause him serious complications.

March 19, 2011 - Discussion on President Clinton's proposed Works Progress Administration begins in the House of Representatives and Senate.  The proposal includes 800 billion dollars for use in public works projects, employing workers who have not had jobs in more than three months.  Republicans immediately attack it as wasteful, reckless, and an attempt at the socialization of the construction and utilities industries.

March 28, 2011 - United States Representative and Candidate for President Ron Paul suffers a stroke.  He is fine overall, but announces the end of his campaign, saying he's too old for such a vigorous campaign.  He does not endorse any candidate.

April 4, 2011 - President Clinton appears on Capitol Hill, discussing her proposal for a new WPA.

April 15, 2011 - 500 Indian troops "accidentally" cross the border into disputed Kashmir.  They are fired upon by nearly 5000 Pakistani troops, who kill 210 of the Indians.  India prepares for War, and President Musharraf expresses his apologies.  The Pakistani Commanders are diciplined, but India is still preparing for an Invasion.  While the US attempts to remain neutral, Iran says they will step in for Pakistan, and Israel counters that Israel would get involved as well.  Most Americans support an Alliance with India and Israel against Iran and Pakistan.  Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon is dispatched to Islamabad in attempt to diffuse the crisis.

April 27, 2011 - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is shot at while leaving his hotel in Islamabad for the airport.  While his motorcade is driving to the airport, a suicide bomber explodes a car nearby; the force of the explosion overturns Ki-moon's vehicle.  As Ki-moon crawls out of the car, he is shielded by civilians, who carry him inside a restaurant.  The Pakistani military quickly clears the area, and Ki-moon suffers two broken bones along with minor cuts and bruises.  However, 51 civilians are killed, 12 UN employees are killed, 4 members of the Pakistani Army are killed, and 11 Islamabad Police Officers are killed.  The attack effectively reverses the small amount of progress made during the Secretary-General's time in Pakistan.

What is the actual delegate count at the moment?  Is there much talk of a brokered convention?  If a brokered convention was a live possibility, then I don't think Huckabee would withdraw from the race and offer an endorsement.  At most, he'd suspend his campaign and stay neutral, keeping his delegates as bargaining chips at the convention.
