Nice map, but I see a couple of errors in Oregon. Still fascinating though. Smiley

Nice map. So which states would Dems win more counties in a 50-50 statewide race? It looks like Hawaii, New Hampshire, maybe WV, SC, MA?

Edited Oregon and Rhode Island. There's probably some other mistakes so just tell me if there is.

Why?

McCain did better than his statewide % in every county except Cook.

I don't think he was disputing the accuracy of the map, but rather the fact that one county could so dominate a state as to be the only county in the state that is more Democratic than the statewide average.

It's actually fairly plausible that Giannoulias could defeat Kirk this fall while winning only Cook and losing every other county in the state.

Plausible, but he would more likely also hold on to various counties like St. Clair, Rock Island and Alexander while winning thanks to his margin of victory in Cook.
