Context:

(1)  No bid contracts galore; stealth occupations along Af-Pak border and Colombia

(2)  More bank bailouts; more exec. bonuses; more fees extracted from the public for withdrawing their own money

(3)  Mandate to buy private insurance

(4)  Nominal unemployment at 11.7% (really, ~ 21%); despite tax cuts for "small" "businesses" that "hire" people

(5)  Crumbling infrastructure accelerates; no WPA-like jobs program to rebuild

(6)  Reps. run on cultural platitudes (welfare queens in designer jeans), big gummint bad, and folksiness (as much as Romney can muster).

(7)  Obama runs on "creative class" megalomania, collapsing any discontent into evidence of racism, parochialism, or being too "bitter" about things.  Creative class swoons.

[8]  Warren runs a campaign on a simple premise:  "End the rent-seeking."  Her platform includes:
     (a) let the big banks fail, unguarantee that 22 trillion Obama/Bush guaranteed; build a network of local credit unions
     (b) single-payer Medicare for All; mandatory maximum patient-doctor ratio for counties
     (c) no more mercenaries; public defense as our one, true defense
     (d) nationalize utilities
     (e) universal education (detaching funding for K-12 from property taxes, free tuition to public universities for qualifying students, teachers academies, universal maximum of 20:1 student-teacher ratio, teacher salaries beginning at 40k or inflation-adjusted equivalent thereafter; universal one-year vocational training for those who do not attend college)
     (f) simplify tax code:  eliminate loopholes, credits, consumption taxes; add brackets to income taxes above the current top bracket; tax accumulated/corporate wealth at rates commensurate with or exceeding rates from labor-derived income [a 100 page tax code]
    (g) publicly-financed campaigns for federal office
    (h) permanent WPA-like program to rebuild and maintain infrastructure
    (i) points to rent-seeking behavior of Ds & Rs:  broken promises and vote beggars
    (j) initially conciliatory to media; become more confrontational (e.g., "Who owns you?" to corporate media "journalists")

What is this? And who is Elizabeth Warren?

What is this? And who is Elizabeth Warren?

Elizabeth Warren is law professor specializing in bankruptcy law.  She was the chair for the panel overseeing TARP (which Obama/Dems and Rethugz want to give no powers to).  She also proposed the idea of a Consumer Financial Protection Agency, which of course, the legacy parties and Leader Obama™ want to make absolutely powerless if it were to ever pass.

Margaret Flowers, MD is a doctor and single-payer/Medicare for All advocate.

Obama's concession speech:

I lost because of racism and Christianist zealots!  Freedom means free trade and mandatory purchasing of private junk insurance.  It means outsourcing our manufacturing and agricultural base:  We make KnOwLeDgE and CrEaTiViTy!  Women don't know what they're doing.  Viva Golden Sacks and BlueCross!  Even my boi Romney would've been better!

Romney's concession speech:

Freedom means no corporate or inheritance taxes and free trade.  C'mon guys I'm really pretty, even prettier than Obama.  Why didn't my boi fans have a crush on me!  I'm gonna go buy a country now.  I thought I played pious cowboy well!

Cogent arguments all!  I'm not a betting person, but i'd bet Obama and his fan-boi base play the race card and bash Southerners/old people/Christians/women...again!

This would have been a lot more realistic if you had chosen a candidate people have heard of.

This woman certainly sounds like she'd make a better president than Obama. I've heard of her before on The Daily Show though, and I don't really see her diving into national politics anytime soon.

Bump. While the election was a bit wacky, I am interested to see how a legitimate Lefty would have handled the government.

I remember this! (from my lurking days) Yeah, I didn't know who the fck this lady was either. Why does every Democrat now think she's our next President? If she plans on taking on Scott Brown, she can't be too good.

She's essentially what Democrats held Obama up as four years ago. This unapologetic liberal savior who was going to finally be the start of a left-wing revival.

Unlike Obama, she seems to be the genuine article as far as her politics. That also probably means she won't have a chance at being President, and may not even be Senator.
