There is no Politician that can even compare their intellectual insight to that of a political philosopher. Leo Strauss, Allan Bloom(debatable), and Edmund Burke were Gods among men that possessed great mental skill. These Men battled with Utilitarianism, Liberal Democracy(Burke), while struggling with the platonic/hegelian concept of government.

I am a self-proclaimed Liberal, but these Political Philosophers just seem so interesting. If i am not reading up on the new york intellectuals than I am probably diving into Rothbard's interpretation of Burke's conservatism.

What do you think of Political Philosophy, and Philosophical conservatism?
One of the differences between Paleo-Conservatives and Neo-Conservatives arise from Ideology. Paleo-Conservatives share similarities with Burke because of their anti-ideology, while Neo-Conservatives are considered to actually be ideological. This split was born in the fire of anti-communist circles that soon erupted to create a conservative revolution.

Considering you're on a political forum, you probably should.  Nonetheless, what's he's saying is mostly babble.  Allan Bloom, a genius?  lol

I hope nobody is confused about the Edumund Burke anti-ideology statement.

I didn't really car for the title, because I think the substance should be more important. I have changed the title though.

I would tend to say Burke was more opposed to what he considered illiberal democracy. He was a Whig after all.

the word conservative didn't surface until after his death.
