2012, BARACK OBAMA/JOE BIDEN vs. JOHN SUNUNU/PAUL RYAN.

Discuss, with maps.

That seems like an excellent ticket in my opinion just a little unlikely. Still comeback stories in politics aren't unheard of, ie Reagan and Nixon. My guess would be if Sununu and Ryan hit hard on the mistakes Obama made with the Healthcare bill and any other legislation that comes along that is fiscally irresponsible or attempts to gridlock congress if Republicans take over, they could have a moderate win.

I can see this ticket helping us in House races up North even if we don't win Northern states.

That's probably true, the only problem is that Ryan and Sununu are both Roman Catholic. Usually Presidential tickets try to balance each other, and having two Catholics might not help in some parts of the South.

How about Daniels/Sununu to make an all-(part)Arab ticket?

I swear, this is the only place on Earth where both Gary Johnson and John Sununu are being considered as serious contenders in 2012...

I doubt I could ever vote for a ticket with Daniels on it.

This place considers Romney, Huckabee, and Palin serious contenders. Sununu would be more serious than either of them. By any definition.

a map more likely:

This may be more charitable than appropriate.

Sununu lost his bid for re-election in New Hampshire in 2008 and leaves a bad taste there after a dirty-tricks campaign that he won in 2002, and such will be used against him in 2012 should he be a nominee for either President or Vice-President. Dirty tricks are one thing; dirty tricks for which one is caught are another.  Any Republican from the Rove/Cheney/Bush era will have to be squeaky-clean to have a chance.

He cannot win his own state. Congressional representatives do not fare well as VP candidates. This ticket does nothing to reclaim any part of the Blue Firewall and nothing to strip away any Southern or Rocky Mountain states from Obama.

Not the definition of who has a  realistic chance of ending up the nominee.

I don't understand really what you mean. Mitt, Mike, and Sarah have all been anointed by the media as primary contenders, and in polls are frequently leading the field.

Sununu got defeated convincingly in the last election; I can't see how he winds up as a 'serious contender' with that. Sure, Richard Nixon made a major comeback after his two defeats, but that was an outlier, and Nixon was a national figure in the 1950s and early 1960s. John Sununu isn't.

Maybe he takes back his Senate seat or wins the Governor's mansion. But I can't see him run for president in 2012.

I would vote for this ticket with some enthusiasm. It is one of the few possible Republican tickets I could vote for at all.
