The stuff I wonder about is the stuff on taxes.  He "raised a tax or two since taking office in 2005" and he leaves the door open to there being some tax increases in a deficit reduction package.  It sounds pretty mild, as these things go.

But the modern GOP's mantra seems to be "No taxes increases under any circumstances.  Never, never, never."  Do you think this is the sort of thing that would be a strong line of attack against Daniels in a national primary campaign?

Someone brought up Bush Sr and read my lips the other day.  I'd think candidates might be cautious about any firm commitment but maybe they can't afford any caveats to an anti-tax position in a primary.  I assume all will call for reinstating the Bush tax cuts.

Can't find it now but I also read Daniels hint at moving in an isolationist direction- not quite Ron Paul levels if memory serves- but he made a vague comment about scaling back international commitments.

Interesting.  Good find, Morden.

And I'd like to see the comments you're referring to, BMB.  Let me try my google-fu.
