I guess  I agree. It is not in the competing parties' best interest to agree on the facts, or even the probabilities, so with the competing actors having different tales to tell, their adherents tend to have disparate views of "reality," with both sometimes at odds with what a philosopher king or judge would deem to be the actual facts upon which an opinion should be based. And on top of that, sometimes we really don't know the facts, and it is all guesswork, but that doesn't stop folks from believing some scenario is based on more than guesswork.
