Another exit poll:

Conservatives - 305
Labour - 255
Liberal Democrats - 61
Other - 29

Substitute "Another" for "Slightly revised version of the same skeptical exit poll released the first time" please.

Sorry - I thought it was a different one.  Why did they "revise" an exit poll?Huh

It's no longer an exit poll- it's a projection.

Birmingham Edgbaston expected next... Expected Tory gain.

Washington and Sunderland West, I thought. Edgbaston is very early, though, and I would be very surprised if the Conservatives do not win it.

do they do that Olympic medal style coronation ceremony for every riding/constituency? that's the weirdest thing I've ever seen

Yes, they do, but they don't necessarily show it on TV. It's even been spoofed in Monty Python. They used to not announce the party and the announcer would say it in the gaps.

Yeah, i started watching the 1979 election coverage on Youtube and i was wondering what the hell that was Grin

You too?

Yeah, i have watched 1979, 1983 and 1987 in the past week Grin
I was going to start watching 1992 but i was interrupted by the current one Tongue

It's a tradition for Vine and his predecessor Peter Snow to work some form of gimmicky illustration into their coverage.

Esther Rantzen sounds ridiculous, like some American stereotype of a Victorian Briton.

Could be bad news, with the shit hitting the fan in Greece already and the near disaster on Wall Street this afternoon.

Thanks for the links guys. If only this election wasn't scheduled for the day before my AP US History test. Tongue

Remember, Rachel Carson's 1962 Silent Spring book set off the environmental movement. I got that question wrong on 3 straight practice tests AND it was on my actual test.
The only thing I'm having trouble with are the supreme court cases, cultural stuff and idiotic questions. Oh well, it shouldn't be too difficult.

British election coverage seem to be much better than American coverage.

How does one concoct "notional" results to calculate swings in seats with new boundaries without individual polling place results from the last election?  Anyone know?

How come the LibDems are so strong at Cornwall?

Tories are the English landlords (Cornwall has historically been separated from England), and Labour are the evil city-dwelling socialists.

How does one concoct "notional" results to calculate swings in seats with new boundaries without individual polling place results from the last election?  Anyone know?

I don't believe that those calculations are made by laymen.
