I find out an interesting thing. According to the Alawis, who believed in reincarnation, you can be reborn as a "dirt or trash" (if you did some ugly things in previous life), but that still not the worst option. The worst option, for those who did even uglier things, is to be reborn as insect.

Why is dirt and trash superior to insects? Wouldn't you prefer to be an insect than empty beer can?

How can you be reborn as something that's not even alive?

Well, I've asked on the classes about that and Alawis never explained that.

Reincarnation is a way of justifying political motives by telling citizens not to worry or ask questions because things will be better in their next lives.

Reincarnation is just a way to justify one's political causes by saying that things will be better in the next life so stop asking questions and don't worry about anything.

Extermist.

(ok, I agree they're not real Muslims Tongue By the way, when Hafez Al-Assad was about to assume power in Syria, he asked friendly scholar from Lebanon to declare "yes, you're Muslim")

Why couldn't you also say this about the 'afterlife' in any other religion?

Yes but that's not a political issue, it's the religion in general. I know what you're saying but there is a difference between a religion and a government doing that.

I might be. Something being heretical is saying it's against one group's religion. Who is anyone to tell someone else what to believe is where I was getting at.

It seems to me that being an insect would be much better than being an inanimate object. If you are an insect, you'll only be alive for days, months, or amybe a few years. If you are trash, you could be around for centuries, depending on what sort of trash you are. I think an empty beer can, to use Kalwejt's example, can last for 100 years in a landfill.

When does a beer can die?

When does a beer can die?

I assume when it decomposes, after many years (then again, one must wonder what stage of decomposition it must attain to be considered "dead").

I am more interested in the dirt, personally. Are you reincarnated as a single speck or as a big clod? Can we say that dirt decomposes in the same sense larger objects do? Would we be doing something evil by "killing" dirt or trash, or would we be doing something good by allowing them to be reborn as something better? It would also seem to me that these dirt-people have no consciousness, since dirt does not have a brain.

So, you can be empty beer can for 100 years, but that still worse than being an insect who way live just a few days, die and reincarnate into something else, worse or better.

I find that very amusing.
