most of the map is ok save for SD 10 and SD 20. My hope is that Texas Republicans are as stupid as Georgia Democrats were in the 90s.

SD 20 and 27 are unchanged from the current map.  There is about a 6% population deviation (27 is -2.98%, and 20 is +3.18%).  They really should pair the coastal counties, Cameron and Nueces and give Hidalgo County the whole district it deserves.

They left SD 28, 30, and 31 collectively about 60,000 underpopulated.

Map goes from 38 county fragments (areas within a county that are not entire district) to 14.

SD-1 Northeast Texas

All of Smith County (Tyler) is consolidated in district.  Largest counties Smith (Tyler) 25.9% (of ideal population), Gregg (Longview) 15.0%, and Bowie (Texarkana) 11.4%, which form just over half the district, with the rest spread over the remaining 14 counties.

Changes:

53,000 to SD-3 (Rusk)
86,000 from SD-2 (Smith(part), Hopkins, Delta)
43,000 from SD-3 (Smith(part))

92.7% of current district is retained, 84.0% of new district is in current district.

District becomes slightly less Anglo.

SD-2 Eastern Dallas suburbs

Almost 59% of district is in Dallas County, as district is adjusted to take in all of Garland and Mesquite, while shedding fringe along southern edge of county.  Counties are Dallas 58.8%, Kaufman 12.7%, Hunt 10.6%, Rockwall 9.7%, Van Zandt 6.5%, and Rains 1.3%

Changes:

86,000 to SD-1 (Smith(part), Hopkins, Delta)
34,000 to SD-8 (Fannin)
67,000 to SD-23 (Dallas)
138,000 from SD-16 (Dallas)
1,000 from SD-23 (Dallas)

78.2% of current district is retained, 82.8% of new district is in current district.

District becomes slightly more Hispanic and Asian, less Black.

SD-3 Deep East Texas

District sheds its parts of Montgomery and Smith counties, while gaining Orange, Walker, Rusk, and Trinity.  Largest counties are Angelina (Lufkin) 10.7%, Orange (Orange) 10.1%, Henderson (Athens) 9.7%, Walker (Huntsville) 8.4%, and Nacogdoches (Nacogdoches) 8.0% for about 47% of the total, with the remainder in 13 counties.

Changes:

43,000 to SD-1 (Smith(part))
193,000 to SD-4 (Montgomery(part)
53,000 from SD-1 (Rusk)
82,000 from SD-4 (Orange)
82,000 from SD-5 (Walker, Trinity)

71.2% of current district is retained, 72.8% of new district is in current district.

District becomes a bit more Black, a bit less Hispanic as it slides out of Montgomery.

SD-4 Northern Houston Suburbs and Southeast Texas

District sheds its portion of northeastern and eastern Harris County, plus Orange County, while gaining all of Montgomery, Jefferson, and Chambers counties.  Largest counties are Montgomery (northern Houston suburbs) 56.2%, Jefferson (Beaumont, Port Arthur) 31.1%, Liberty (northeastern Houston exurbs) 9.3%, Chambers (eastern Houston exurbs) 4.3%.

Changes:

82,000 to SD-3 (Orange)
56,000 to SD-7 (Harris (part))
80,000 to SD-15 (Harris (part))
193,000 from SD-3 (Montgomery(part))
54,000 from SD-17 (Jefferson(part), Chambers(part))

72.4% of current district is retained, 69.9% of new district is in current district.

District becomes more minority, as area gained from Jefferson is 70% minority (40% Black), vs. 83% Anglo Orange, and portion of Montgomery that is added has a higher minority share (particularly Hispanic) than the Harris areas that are dropped.

SD-5 Austin suburbs and Central Texas

District contracts towards Austin, as Freestone, Houston, Leon, Limestone, Robertson, Trinity, Walker are shed,  while Bastrop and Fayette are added.  Largest counties are Williamson (northern Austin suburbs) 52.1%, Brazos (Bryan, College Station) 24.0%, and Bastrop (eastern Austin suburbs) 9.1%, and 15.2% in other 6 counties.

Changes:

82,000 to SD-3 (Walker, Trinity)
100,000 to SD-22  (Freestone, Houston, Leon, Limestone, Robertson)
99,000 from SD-18 (Bastrop, Fayette)

79.7% of current district is retained, 87.9% of new district is in current district.

District becomes slightly more Hispanic, less Black, due to shift towards Austin and out of the Brazos and Trinity

SD-6 East, Southeast, and North Houston and Harris County Hispanic

District adds areas to south and north to get to ideal population.  Entire district is in Harris County.

2 from SD-13 (Harris(part))
107,000 from SD-15 (Harris(part))

87.5% of current district is retained, 69.2% of new district is in current district.

District becomes less Hispanic as areas that are barely majority Hispanic are added to supermajority Hispanic district.

56,000 from SD-4 (Harris(part))
12,000 from SD-15(Harris(part))
8,000 from SD-17 (Harris(part))

District becomes slightly more Anglo as district moves outward.

SD-8 Collin and Fannin Counties

District moves out of Dallas County and takes all of Collin County.   96.4% of ideal district population is in Collin, 4.2% in Fannin.

114,000 from SD-30 (Collin(part))

71.1% of current district is retained, 81.9% of new district is in current district.

District becomes more Anglo as it is removed from Dallas, including 4% drop in Hispanic, 2% drop in Asian, and 1% drop in Black population.

SD-9 Arlington and Mid-Cities

District gives up area in southeastern Denton County, and moves westward into Tarrant County.   District is entirely in Tarrant and Dallas counties,with 67.4% and 32.7%, respectively.

264,000 to SD-12 (Denton (part))
26,000 to SD-16 (Dallas (part))
9,000 to SD-23 (Dallas (part))

62.7% of current district is retained, 62.4% of new district is in current district.

Slight racial shift as district consolidates further south.
