AFAIK Thomas Jefferson didn't identify as a "Christian", so...

He self-identified as Unitarian, who are Christians.

Unitarians are one of those groups that some Christians (the dumb ones who care about whether or not we have a Christian President) don't accept as true Christian like the Mormons, Catholics, Episcopalians, and... whatever group and/or reverend Obama is within 50 feet of.
