6th Tri-Annual Regionalist Convention

I’d like to give a shout out to some of my friends at the convention – you guys know who you are.

As many of you know, I’m the Popularis candidate for the Northeast Senate race. I’ve served three terms as a Representative, and I was recently elected Speaker of the Northeast Assembly. I’ve sponsored several bills in the Assembly, including an expansion of gun rights, moratorium on the gas tax, and also made the Northeast a Right to Work Region. I’ve worked to reach compromise with several Representatives on the other side of the spectrum, sometimes to my own surprise, and I’ve also followed suit with federal legislation.

Why do I think the RPP should support me? I’m a very strong proponent of regional rights – not only vis-à-vis Senate seats, but also on issues of social policy. I will work towards maximizing the autonomy of regions on legislation, in cases where I feel it would otherwise be threatened. I also believe in returning the Budget Process. I will work with other Senators and the President on game reform. I’d also like to add that, upon first joining, I actually was a member of the RPP, and I believe I’m the better choice for you in the Senate race.

And so we meet again. It’s been a long, winding road to this point for the RPP, PCP, or AFL-CIO as some would call us. From the birth of the party to the Southeast Succession to the internal fiascos, we have certainly evolved from one thing to another before Atlasia’s very own eyes. And if you want me to feel old, remind me that I’ve been around for all of it. That can’t be said for too many anymore around here.

Today, the RPP is moving in a different direction, a direction that represents a stark contrast to the way the train was heading a year ago. While we no longer have strength in numbers, our foundation has never been better. We strive for quality over quantity. We strive to compete with class, dignity, and integrity. We don’t double cross people anymore, nor do we needlessly kiss up to people for political gain. These are things that could not be said of this party a year ago. When I stepped down as Chairman, I challenged the party to become something totally opposite of its current form, and I commend Yankee on a tremendous job in realizing these goals during his tenure. I think it’s safe to say the age of backroom deals, lies, deceit and a cutthroat mentality are over. I can honestly say that I am enjoying my time more in this party than I ever have before. Things just flow nicely.

Even though we have gone through a makeover of sorts, we have not waivered on our core principles. At the heart of the party, we are still regionalists – we believe that a strong regional government with an active legislative branch is the best way to engage the greatest number of citizens and allow them to mold their region the way in which they wish, not the way in which the feds want it to operate. I’m pleased to see my home region emerging with its legislature, for example. It has been a good thing for the dirty dirty.

Finally, I want to say that the crop of candidates we are fielding in all regional and federal elections is the best quality group we have run since I last ran a few months ago, and the best group we will see till the inevitable Duke/Fezzy ticket (coming to a theater near you in the distant future). Each of them are capable of serving admirably, and all of them are approachable and willing to listen and work with others. My wish to anyone reading is to give these candidates a listen, even if your mind is already made up. They are truly reasonable people and excited to serve the people of this country.

I am truly excited about the future of this party and look forward to the elections ahead.

On the edge of the desert horizon the silouette of a human appears. Could it, possibly, no it can't. NC Yankee comes into sight after a trek across the desert to Phoenix, ready to give his speach at the convention.


Sorry for being late, I decided to take the Sceenic route to the convention. Ladies and Gentleman, party members, conservatives, regionalists, my esteemed collegues today we are gathered here not to sell specific ticket or a specific candidate for President. We are here to sell a party. Today the RPP stands strong, boasting a diverse membership and ready to take the reigns in several capacities. No party can claim our record of strong support for regional powers and regional senate seats. We are party committed to common sense reforms that will generate a rebirth in activity and interest in the game, something it critically needs at this juncture. We are a party that decided that ideas and values are more important then winning the next election, that quality of candidates is just as important as ideology and world view. We have choosen to abandon the dishonest practices and shameful schemes which dragged the whole game into depths of hell and embrace a new operation in which everyone has input in decision making and no one is thrown to the curb over petty disagreements or failure to vote a certain way.

Today, we enter this election with the most freedom in which we choose our vote for President. However that makes our decision harder, as we may be the votes that decide this election, we need to choose carefully and most important we have to get it right. We have three good candidates but each candidate has risks and dangers to the things we value in this party. I thank the candidates for addressing our convention and working so hard to win our votes. Now we have to choose, the candidate of reform, the candidate of ideology, or the candidate that this party supported last time. Its difficult choice to be made and I have every confidence in the great people which compose this party to make that choice.

I said many months ago, when I took over, that the White House was not going to be my number one focus and as I am sure some of us have not been too thrilled with us not making up our minds till the last minute. But for our purposes that puts us in position of stength. I look forward to contesting future elections with an RPP ticket, and if he is serious about it Duke/Fezzy that would be a strong ticket. Other options would be similarily strong as well. But we must focus on this election here and now. I look forward to seeing you comming out and voting and to seeing just what the result of this Presidential election is. Like my distinguished lieutenant, I am excited, but I am also concerned, concerned about the future of the game as a whole. Concerned that no matter what reforms are made the activity of the game depends not on that but on the actions of individual people to write that article, conduct that poll, send that PM, vote for that candidate, and compose that legislation. Its the same challenge I laid out back when the convention was collapsing a year ago.
