1) Is Bearuegard D'Israeli a real person? I don't think I've found any mention of him on Google.

2) If you need characters, businessman and former Medal of Honor recipient Christian Mattingly runs and wins the 1990 Michigan Gubernatorial. (Irish Catholic, American Dream, Cosnervative Republican, outspoken, working class background, degrees in Economics, Business, and Political Science)

This is all based on Americana.

Is that because the South had somewhat liberal abortion laws pre Roe v Wade, or some other reason?

Damn Mech.

I must say this is one of the most detailed and in-depth timelines I have ever read. Attention to detail (on abortion laws, ballot access, etc) is superb. Good stuff.

Thad is the type to try and put on the best front in public regardless of his true feelings, so... you hit the nail on the head with that one, haha.

Bold prediction: Crane's victory will be a landslide that is also seen as a "re-aligning" election.

Anyway, to my fellow viewers: If Atlas Forum were around during this time period (yeah yeah, Internet wasn't around, whatever) what party do you think you'd identify with? What party could you see other posters identifying with?

I think I'd still be a Republican with a few Classical Liberal votes and even some Moderate Reform votes.

We all know why Fred Harris won Iowa. Grin

I see somebody has read up on the (way overdue for updates) classics Grin.

Just a question, and this may have been mentioned earlier but I just didn't catch it.

Is Crane battling alcoholism ITTL?

Btw - are you going to post the map? Tongue

One more PM crap, and I shall boycott this thread.

Why so offended by a nice tidbit of information that explains a fictional character's political leanings? Huh

Seems like Westman is getting a bit more right-wing.. unless this is a side he just hasn't shown off before.

Just a note, no way does Dewey lose Franklin County, MA - which, has a nearly identical voting pattern to Vermont (save for 1988, that I can recall.)

It, along with Barnstable, was amongst the most loyally Republican counties in Massachusetts for quite some time.

Y'know when I was starting to feel good about myself putting this much effort into maps...............

It's all right, man. I'm doing a similar project (but with shades) and I'm sure I'll flub up a few counties.

He who does not make mistakes makes nothing at all.

That reminds me, the other day, Jbrase pointed out that I created a county out of what was actually a water boundary.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about it man. I doubt you're on the moderators' hitlist.

Also, great updates so far. I had something similar in mind for Westman and O'Connor's first encounter myself, for my project.

Took a stab at Thad's race:

I must say, 1986 looked like a bad night for the Republicans and an even worse one for the up-start Conservative party and its affiliates. How do the three (Republican, Constitutionalist, and Conservative) parties relate vis-a-vis caucusing?

Awesome updates dude. Looking for D'Israeli to be on a potential grudge ticket against Westman.

Lt. Governor Russell Means is amazing.
