Fishpal, from that article where did you get that thought?  It's the Post!!! Almost like the Times.

No doom and gloom, that's the territory of Kerry.  Oh yeah...who was the doofas that ran a poll on how the Bin Laden tape would affect the election?  Kerry.

"Bush's aides predicted victory when talking on the record, pointing to polls showing that the race remained a tossup, both nationally and in key states. But despite the insistence that all was well, the erosion in the moods of Bush's inner circle over the past two weeks was unmistakable. Several of his close advisers said they were concerned because the president had achieved no last-minute momentum, and Democratic turnout was looking as if it might swamp the Bush-Cheney campaign's projections.

A GOP official who is privy to Bush-Cheney strategy and polling said that as the incumbent, Bush should be further ahead of Kerry in polls. "Some of them have been moving in the right direction, but it isn't enough," the official said. "Karl [Rove] is a big believer in the bandwagon effect, but there has been nothing over the past week for the president to use it to turn it around."

I'm not saying it couldn't potentially be true, but when a paper quotes "sources" without naming names, saying "they are close to the campaign" or "close advisors", my red suspicion light goes off immediately, especially when its the Washington Post.

This article strikes me as being legit.

This election is going to be very, very close.   And if you believe in "the Incumbent Rule", Bush is sitting at 48.X% right now.... headed straight for tiesville.

At any rate, I suspect that the comments are legit, but that the Post reporter simply heard what he wanted to hear.

Did Mittens release a projection, too?

I don't like Lucky's prediction, so I'm desperate for some good news here.

Neither campaign senses defeat.   They just expect a sleepless night. And both campaigns are bracing for the possiblity one candidate will not concede the election by Wednesday morning.

Two judges knocked down Republican hopes of challenging voters at the polls in Ohio.    That'll at least make Kerry's victory in Ohio come quickly.

I heard the opposite; the Republican challenges were successful and they can have poll watchers at the voting sites.

I don't have a cat, but most reporters and marketing people own cats and name them Mittens.  Cats named Mittens are known to be the most accurate focus groups for marketing.

I agree.  Both candidates realize that this race could go either way today.  I think it's really foolish to be putting much stock in stories suggesting that one candidate or another is sensing defeat.  None of the candidates will be sensing defeat until they're defeated.

And perhaps not even then.

Listen, I am a Bush fan and I was sensing defeat, too. Except I was sensing defeat for a certain Senator from Massachusetts.

This is almost as funny as the other thread.
It's better: the other thread just makes fun of fish, this one also points out what hacks some of the pundits at the WaPo are.
