What exactly happened there? I remember when Yates joined, but I think I was on hiatus when ... whatever happened happened.
Told everybody rather convincingly that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and didn't have long to live and thus left the forum.  It then came out that he was some poser from Florida with a perfectly fine brain (except for maybe the manipulation and lying centers, which seem to be bigger than normal).

Has he ever come back to verify that, or was it found out some other way?

That's a shame ... I liked Yates. Seemed to be a really smart guy.

Someone did that? Wow

The "troll wars" involved 4 of Straha's 4chan pals joining and being disruptive, and it was IIRC right on the tail of the Ogis mess and the banning of Xahar.

They were never his friends bro.

Einzige also joined around that time and cutie_15 was really out of control as well.

I just reported about twenty+ threads in the last 5 minutes, whew.  I'm exhausted.  Can't remember anyone short of Ogis spamming the forum like that.

I joined during the Troll Wars. How I remember it well.

Was there Rationing?

Yup, god yup. There was utter bloodshed. I remember I once saw a poster banned in front of my very own eyes. And it desensitises you to it once it happens in front of you.... you just don't care anymore. Rild, Pravda, Ogis, Straha... all names committed to the dustbin of history through their brutal deaths at the hands of Atlasian forces.

So to answer your question, yeah, I remember it Tongue

Don't forget Madhur and Lance McSteel.

I can't say that I noticed any spamming. What happened?

Exactly - the system worked.  Stark's sock was spamming (I count at least 15 threads bumped/created).  With the new system, we were able to "mute" him within about 20 minutes of the start of the attack.  Although, upon further discussion, the mods have come up with a way that we should be able to resolve any further attacks with almost no delay whatsoever.

Inks deserves a medal.  He deleted over a dozen posts in record time.  Inks, Hero of the Fatherland.  Order of Dave.  While the Mikado was offline watching Entourage (Ari's getting a football team? Vince is skydiving?), Inks bravely fought off the blitzkrieg and saved Atlas.

Do the mods find Stark or Hamilton to be a more formidable adversary?

Stark sucks at hiding himself, so he's easier to deal with.

Thats one of them, though I don't remember the details as well as I used to. I hope thats not the reason PBrunsel left.

Assad's attack on Dave and subsequent banning. I couldn't believe people tried to get him unbanned, and then I think he actually was allowed back, which never should have happened. It seems like every person who gets banned has a group of fellow travelers who try to get him back, that needs to stop. Its very difficult to get banned from here, the people who are always deserve it.

That time every person on the forum was sent a PM containing a picture of a naked Asian man with huge junk. That was so stupid.

Gabu, Keystone Phil and Milk & Cereal leaving. I still haven't gotten over that. You'd think Milk & Cereal would come back now that we have more libertarians than we used to.

Joel the "professor" and Wyatt Chesney both deserve mention.

Do the mods find Stark or Hamilton to be more formidable adversary?

Um, by the time he had 11 posts, he had one thread being like "This guy is Stark" on the mod board, followed shortly by a thread calling him out on The Alas board and one on The Forum Community board.  As he is routinely identified before he can get to a few dozen posts, he has the mind of a child and isn't especially formidable.  But he can create 20 minutes of hectic work for us if he a new IP.

All of our posters who constantly return with sock accounts have severe psychotic issues and blatant personality disorders, I wouldn't consider any of them to be formidable.  Hamilton's too much of a fool to even realize his own routine, but he exploits some of the slowness of the system to get a couple hundred dumb posts every now and then.

I wouldn't have called Ogis formidable, but he was a headache.

Yeah and Inks is a trooper.  I spammed his inbox with reports and he was all over it like King King playing Ping Pong

As a personal opinion, Rochambeau is the only person I find formidable, to be honest.

Worth of mention were Assad's "Keystone Phil is dead" threads.

Now wait for a "rise and fall of William Sargent"

What was that?

IP Check - he'd been posting here with a different account and his real name earlier.
