The VP nominee's positions are much less important than those of the Presidential nominee. I know I'm not a conservative. Maybe a majority of conservatives have a favorable opinion of him, but there are many Republicans who dislike him a lot due to his abortion position and would never vote for him. And as for the 2007 polls, Giualiani was only leading because the conservative vote was divided between Romney, McCain, and Fred Thompson. Hillary was also leading massively in national polls throughout 2007, but ended up losing. So what's your point?
