will he just ride off into the sunset?  will he be an active member of the senate, perhaps run for minority leader?

i say he will retreat to back-bencher status.  he will serve out the rest of his term and then retire. 

if a democrat wins in 08, i would not be surprised to see john kerry in the cabinet.  sec of state perhaps?
