POLL METHODOLOGY: Clarus Inner Circle survey interviews were conducted live via telephone calls based on a sample of 636 U.S. registered voters nationwide who said they “closely” or “very closely” follow news and world events. Those who said they follow news and world events “fairly closely” or “not closely at all” were screened out. The margin of error for the sample is +/- 3.9 percent. The survey was conducted only among news watchers because some Administration insiders who were tested are not well known to the general public. The following question was asked of respondents: “I am now going to read to you the names of a number of public officials. For each one, please tell me whether you approve or disapprove of the job they are doing…”

Hillary Clinton: 64-32

Barack Obama: 45-52

Robert Gates: 56-29

Ken Salazar: 22-39

Janet Napolitano: 39-48

Tim Geithner: 33-46

Rahm Emanuel: 32-44

Robert Gibbs: 43-34

David Axelrod: 32-36

• Clinton and Gates owe their higher ratings to stronger bipartisan appeal. Clinton received 45 percent approval from Republicans and 57 percent from independents. Gates scored 45 percent from both Republicans and independents.

• Both Obama and Clinton posted 90 percent approval scores among Democrats. Gates, who was first appointed to his current job by GOP President George W. Bush, received a 76 percent approval rating from Democratic news watchers.

• Obama’s ratings were more politically polarized: The president received a 35 percent job approval from independents and a dismal 14 percent from Republicans. Obama won the 2008 election by drawing 52 percent of independent voters.

...

The survey was not sponsored or paid for by any client, candidate or political party.

The only reason she has those kinds of approvals is because she has the least partisan job out of all those Cabinet members. If she was President, her approvals would probably be similar to Obama's right now, while Obama's approvals would probably be higher.

I'd love to see Joe Biden's. I wonder why they didn't poll Kathleen Sebelius, as she was very public in the health care debate.

almost twice what Obama has. She will put together a campaign this time next year if Obama is lower than he is now.

She is not anywhere close to twice as much as Obama. And Obama's approvals will begin recovering late this year or early next year. Heck, even with a 45% approval rating, Obama still has a 50% chance of being reelected.

You take things overly literal don't you. Give Obama a year.

I am sure Baghdad Bob also had the highest ratings of Saddam's cabinet. He at least had his good qualities.

Gibbs didn't really do anything wrong and I myself probably like Gibbs more than Emanuel (though I'm not sure about Salazar).

I'd support a Clinton/Crist ticket.
