So excited for new Sun Kil Moon (Universal Truthes). Fascinated by Mark Kozelek's new direction with his writing. The Possum and Ali/Spinks 2 are the first two songs out for the album, and both are great and weird and way too personal.

Mark Kozelek is such a sh-t person, but he's such a great musician. I've only had very brief exposure to Sun Kil Moon, but I can appreciate his talents.

I totally agree. That's kind of what makes his music so fascinating to me though.

One of my favorite weeks in music in a while. To Pimp a Butterfly appears on Spotify, and Earl Sweatshirt is coming out next week (and his new single is perfectly introverted and dark, which is where Earl Sweatshirt does the best).

I feel like this forum isn't the right place to find a lot of Purity Ring fans, but they released their second album this month. This record is less weird lyrically and more pop-oriented than the last one, which has been the cause of some lukewarm reviews, but I like it a lot. If before they were a less poppy version of The Knife, now they're Chvrches with hip-hop beats. I'm fine either way.

Nah Purity Ring is fairly solid, though admittedly I haven't heard their 2nd album yet.

Purity Rings new album is amazing.

Tame Impala just released their new single, and it's pretty sexy:

I'll have to check out Purity Ring's new record. Saw them live years ago.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Courtney Barnett, Father John Misty, Sufjan Stevens, Tame Impala, Ty Segall, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and that new St. Vincent track.

Been going through an Odd Future nostalgia trip. Tyler and Earl are great, Mellowhype is pretty good (though I wouldn't be far off in calling Hodgy Beats a mediocre beyond mediocre rapper), and there are a couple Domo Genesis songs that are pretty nice ("Supermarket" is particularly fun), though generally Domo is also on the mediocre side.

Haven't gotten back to re-listening to Frank Ocean, but that man has pipes.

Have you heard Cherry Bomb?

This was cool.  Interesting how they look alike and have the same message from two opposite angles.  Think of it like Sinead singing to Miley and Wrecking Ball is the response to Sinead.  But both agree nothing compares to the other.

What's great about music the older you get is that you forget about stuff and then come back and find it again, and it's great again!

Phil Collins is of course awesome, but I forgot how utterly catchy Invisible Touch is - and was back when I was a kid. Heard it this morning and it's been in my head all day. Smiley

Saw Purity Ring last night. Definitely one of the best shows I've been to, top five easily. They played a nice combination of their two albums, though the highlights were Lofticries, Belispeak, Body Ache, and Sea Castle. Apparently it was the biggest show of their tour. The only downside was they refused to play an Encore, but the set itself was pretty solid. I'd recommend seeing them live if you get a chance.

I don't think I've ever posted here as obsessed with music as I am but I'm trying really hard to tell as many people as I can that they should check out Haitus Kaiyote. So do that.

Saw them a few years ago (they were opening for Dirty Projectors along with Wye Oak). They were okay but they had to play in broad daylight before most of the crowd had even arrived.

Way to kill the atmosphere, but still I will pretty impressed with their performance. Her vocals were on point the entire night, and the light show was pretty something.

I loved Beat the Champ by the Mountain Goats and The Unpopular Pop Artist by Trouble Andrew. Wilco's new album wasn't too bad either.

Pretty sparse, but I don't listen to a lot of new music and usually discover stuff after it has aged a bit.

It was definitely up there.

The good ole days when Maroon 5 were actually decent.
