Am I the only person here who thinks that Songs About Jane is one of the best albums of the 2000s?

It was definitely up there.

The good ole days when Maroon 5 were actually decent.

I know, it's hard to believe that the same band that gave us Harder to Breathe, This Love, She Will Be Loved, Sunday Morning also gave us This Summer's Gonna Hurt.  Their newer albums have a few guilty pleasure songs of mine (I like a lot of music that I admit is terrible) but none of the new stuff is on par with the songs I mentioned.

Their new albums are just not good, at all. I will admit I haven't really listened to much Maroon 5 since their second album release. I used to be obsessed with Songs About Jane though.

Then Hot Fuss came out and everything changed.

Anyone have any top albums of 2015 so far?

In some order, probably this one:

"Another Eternity" — Purity Ring
"Every Open Eye" — Chvrches
"Emotion" — Carly Rae Jepsen

Good choices. While I'm not the biggest fan of Carly Rae Jepsen, the one memorable song she released this year was stupid catchy.

"My Church" is actually really good on several levels and is kind of subversive. Smiley Obviously playing all over country music stations.

This is a bit of a niche genre, but Gilberto Gil's Expresso 2222 album is just fantastic. (Note: it's in Portuguese)

Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso are really fantastic.

Just a quick introduction to my music tastes.

I would say that my favorite genres of music are rock and pop, with an emphasis on 80s and 90s stuff.  I'm very eclectic, as I also enjoy classic rap/r&b, classic rock (primarily from the 70s), country, and jazz.  About the only type of music I dislike is classical....can't get into Bach and Beethoven, LOL.  I also enjoy analyzing and discussing lyrics; I find that the legends of rock/pop have explored some great ideas.  My favorite lyric is this one from the Rolling Stones:

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find you get what you need" Smiley

Also, I wish to note that I am a DJ for my own internet radio station, which is called "Radio Free Connecticut".  I don't have a real schedule at this time; I'm just on whenever I feel like it, LOL.  If you want to check the station out, go to my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Radio-Free-Connecticut-680518518760296/.  Keep rockin', people! What does everyone think of the current music scene? Personally, and to quote Bob Seger, I think it "ain't got the same soul".  However, I have been known to enjoy listening to a few recent songs, such as Shawn Mendes' "Stitches".  That's pretty much all I'll admit to, LOL.  Wink
