When CNN called Pennsylvania for Kerry after 63% of the precincts had reported, Kerry was leading Bush 57-43.

By the time, 100% had reported the result was Kerry 51- Bush 49. How?

The Republican strongholds had not yet reported.  Philadelphia was in very early with their numbers, inflating Kerry.

The Pennsylvania interior must be massively Republican.

The Pennsylvania interior is sort of like Alabama if you removed all the black people.

And there aren't that many Black people to remove from the "T" region.  The bulk of the African American population is in Phila, with a sizable minority in Pittsburgh.

PA to me is a little like MO. You have two cities on both sides of the state that are Dem strongholds and for the most part what is in between is GOP. Now there's a difference somewhere because MO usually goes GOP and PA Dem, and it might be that the cities and surrounding areas in PA are more quite a bit more solidly Dem than the cities in MO and especially the surrounding areas. But that's a "guesstimation" on my part.

The Philly suburbs are more Dem than say the St. Louis suburbs.

I'm sure that's what makes the difference.

I have to agree with that after living in the interior, you have Phila and burbs, more like New England, Appalachia in the middle, and the Rust Belt in the West

We gained two full points from 2000-- and that was with Iraq around Bush's neck. I feel good about 2008.

I think he meant if you remove all the blacks from Alabama (meaning it's more Republican than Alabama).
