Freedom Newspaper, although it's not as left-wing as it's most loyal readers and haters think it is.

Well, what else is there? The Daily Mail, The Sun, The Express, The Torygraph? In comparison, The Guardian is a total freedom paper.

The Mirror and The Independent. The Times isn't that bad either.

Well, yeah, The Independent. The Mirror's okay, at best, it's a tabloid after all. I did like their election day front page though.

I read it and think it better than its competitors. Especially when it comes to arts coverage and obituaries. Has some decent sportswriters as well. But... well...

Like most newspapers, it doesn't really understand its readership. Most of the people who read the Grauniad are not stereotypical muesli-munching bourgeois liberals obsessed with electoral reform and the latest fads, but work in the public sector and have distinctly more sober left-wing views. This was especially apparent during the election, of course, when the paper totally misjudged the mood of its readers, against the advice of some of its older hacks. It's loosing readers at a rapid rate at the moment, and needs to understand that it's not going to get them back unless it changes elements of its editorial line and a lot of its emphasis.

If any reform of the paper involves ditching George Monbiot then I greatly approve of it. Otherwise, I agree on the first bit. The Observer is the only Sunday paper that is even close to the "worth reading" designation.

The way they hopped on the Liberal Democrat bandwagon was just embarassing.

The way half the nation jumped on that bandwagon was pretty embarassing quite frankly. Then for it to end with the LDs losing seats was just perfect.

Anyone who's ever tried to read the Independent will understand just how great a paper the Guardian is.

The Daily Mirror is the only paper mentioned here which is to the left of the centre. All the others have sold themselves out to the Tory Democrats

I lost all respect for the Telegraph when they started featuring contributions from Nile Gardiner, arguably the most obnoxious human being in history.

It's hardly "news" though. It's mostly celebrity stuff.
