Gustaf has a really good position.

Tell me about it.  Not only can he seal up the West coast in the first turn, he can make his offensive borders Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona.

I ended up with less than desirable initial placement. Unlike a few others, I'm not concentrated in much of anywhere. Tongue

Might as well put them all on Vermont and rule New England.

As I recall, I was substituting for someone else who had already placed units and placed all 18 on Ohio.  I wasn't going to win in the middle of the map like that, so I thought I'd steal the Pacific.

Don't worry, Gustaf.  That won't happen this time.  Fezzy's much closer, I'll suicide into him instead.  Wink

Just waiting on Fezzy, who hasn't been online since Friday...

It's Fezzy.  Put them all in New Jersey.

2 on Alabama, 1 on Virginia.

Alabama to Mississippi, do or die.

Georgia to Florida, send three down.  Retreat if I lose two.

After that, Georgia-South Carolina-North Carolina, do or die.

Move men in Florida to Alabama.

2 on Alabama, 1 on Virginia

Alabama-Mississippi do or die
Virginia-North Carolina do or die

Bacon King, you want Virginia so badly, it's yours.

End turn.

Bacon King, I'd really recommend not going any further south than KY or VA.  I'll not go north past that line in the near future (my future's westward expansion), so leave me alone and you'll benefit too.

Jeez, Mikado, you're like a ninja, issuing orders only seven minutes into your turn.

But you have 7 reinforcements, not 6.  I could guess where you want the extra one, but I'd prefer clarification anyway.

Mississippi.

Gustaf, just between the two of us...you'd be...ill-advised to cross the Mississippi River.

Sorry I'm late.  Gustaf, will send you orders for your game immediately.

Joe, 7 legions, eh?

3 on Tennessee, 2 on North Carolina, 2 on Mississippi

North Carolina-Virginia Do or die, end turn and hope Fezzy isn't stupid and doesn't realize that I'm leaving him an opportunity to cause more confusion in New England and am NOT inviting him to remain in the South Central.

2 on Virginia, rest on Mississippi

Mississippi-Louisiana, split troops evenly between them.

If it's an uneven number, which state gets the extra one?

Mississippi.

Oh, it's my turn.  One sec.

Edit: Let's DO this.

So I have 17 reinforcements, plus 2 on Alabama.

12 on Louisiana, 3 on Mississippi, 1 on Tennessee, 1 on Virginia.

Louisiana-Texas-New Mexico-Arizona-Nevada-Oregon, Do or die.  Wait for further orders.

So, both Gustaf and Bacon King sent me strongly worded PMs telling me not to break their bonuses.

The Mikado is an agreeable soul, and will grant your request.

2 on Mississippi, 1 on Tennessee, 4 on Virginia.  Virginia-Maryland do or die, strategic move all units in Maryland to Virginia and end turn.  My Army of Northern Virginia is longing to see Gettysburg.

Bacon King has a big choice.  EVERYONE decided to leave his bonus alone, on whom will he use it?  Breaking me would be fairly easy, but I'm too big to kill and have 4 cards, so I may or may not have a set.  Fezzy's tempting, but is too big to easily wipe out and an unsuccessful go at Fezzy would be worse than useless.  Gustaf would be high-risk low-reward, as Fezzy and I could jump Bacon King the next turn.  All three of Bacon King's options are bad.  Nevertheless, what he chooses to do this turn will decide who wins the game.

I hate having 3 infantry sets:

(Joe, your system makes it hard to do this)

That's 11 troops, plus 2 extra on Louisiana.

Let's start off by putting them all on Louisiana.  Louisiana-Texas, stop when Gustaf has either 1 or 2 men left in Texas, and wait for further orders.
