In my experience the initial state distribution doesn't really make much of a difference. If everyone is smart, everyone goes for their own region anyway and conquering an extra state here or there doesn't make much of a difference.

I just hope I don't get Mikadoed this time.

I just hope I don't get Mikadoed this time.

It's been literally years since our last game; remind us of that definition again?  Smiley

He randomly brought his troops across the entire map just to try and destroy me with the motivation that by going after a strong player he would instill respect from the other players. It damn near wiped me out on the first round.

All in Oregon.

Attack Oregon-->Washington do or die. Put a number of troops in Oregon so that there is an equal number in both states. If uneven favour Washington. Before you carry out the orders switch the names of Washington and Oregon.

Then attack California -> Arizona, leaving 4 in California. Then continue, moving all armies Arizona-->New Mexico->Texas. Stop if I can no longer attack with 3.

Or how about you guys fortify your positions and unite against Gustaf, the far bigger threat, who benefits from our disorganization? Tongue

The guy with the smallest region isn't the biggest threat to anyone. And who asked you anyway? Tongue

I would like all of it in Nevada and then attack do or die Nevada-Utah-Colorado. Move all units from Washington to Idaho and end turn (and this time Washington actually means Washington).*

*If I fail in my Nevada attacks I would like to reconsider though...

First off, allow me to state my intentions to my esteemed neighbor to the South regarding our mutual border: my soldiers will not violate the 36°30'N parallel if you respect the peace as well. Consider it our own Missouri Compromise.

I'll place all three reinforcements in West Virginia.

Attack KY-IL-MN do or die, leaving two soldiers instead of one behind in both KY and IL.

Attack WV-VA-MD, do or die.

Assuming neither of my attacks have gone horribly wrong, free move everyone from MD to PA.

Not to be the snotty foreigner or anything but I don't see a border between MN and IL?

Thank you for your patience waiting for my orders. Wink

Very well then, let my crazy idea begin!

All three reinforcements on Vermont. Attack with all three troops from Vermont to New Hampshire, do or die.

Forces in New York, attack Pennsylvania until General Bacon King's forces have been reduced to 1.

Once BK's forces in Pennsylvania have been crippled to 1 battalion, tactical move all remaining forces in New York to Vermont.

End my turn.

God help me. Tongue

lol. I think I get the idea, and yeah, it's crazy. But it might actually be crazy enough to work.

Gustaf, just between the two of us...you'd be...ill-advised to cross the Mississippi River.

I don't know your American rivers.

Anyway, I'd like 3 in Colorado, 1 in New Mexico and 4 in Idaho.

Attack as long as I have 3 attacking Idaho->Montana-> Wyoming

Assuming this is successful and I have at least 4 armies in Wyoming at the end, move all troops in Oregon to Idaho and end turn.

Shouldn't I have 5 in Idaho, since I used to have 5 in Oregon?

Okay, third round. If I haven't forgotten statistics, and assuming there's two wild cards like in normal risk, and also assuming everyone got a card every turn, then there's about a 37.2% chance of any given player having a set of cards to turn in right now. Of course whoever has a set of cards could just hold onto them, but still.

The share of wild cards is lower here though since we have 50 regular cards instead of 42. Wink

Besides, it's fairly uncommon to turn in a set other than a 10-set.

With all that said, I'd be surprised not to see a set get turned in.

As an amusing aside, unless Fezzy or Jas has a card set it is very unlikely that we will see Marokai getting wiped out this turn, meaning that if he has a set of cards... Cheesy

1 in Montana, the rest in Wyoming. Attack Wyoming->South Dakota, stop if I drop to 6 in Wyoming. If I take South Dakota, put minimum number of troops there and given that I have at least 4 left in Wyoming move all troops in Idaho to Montana.

6 in New Mexico, 3 in Colorado. Attack New Mexico -> Texas. Stop if I lose 4. Put minimum number in Texas and then move all troops in South Dakota to Montana.

^^^^^

I feel really bad for Jas. I think he is the player with the most consistent bad luck in those games.

I'd like to turn in these:

(well, I would like not to, but I have to...)

That should give me an extra 6. I'd like all of them in California and then attack do-or-die California-Nevada-Arizona-New Mexico.

Then await further orders.

Do Montana->North Dakota
Wyoming->Nebraska->Kansas splitting forces equally between NE and KS (if the number is odd put the extra in Kansas)
Colorado-> Oklahoma

Then free move from North Dakota to South Dakota so those forces are spread evenly. (if the number is odd put the extra in South Dakota)

Then end turn.

4 in Kansas
5 in Nebraska
4 in South Dakota
3 in North Dakota

Attack New Mexico against Texas, free move so there is an even number of troops between Oklahoma and Texas.

All in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma->Arkansas->Mississippi

Stop when I can no longer attack with at least 3.

Then tactical move all from South Dakota to Wyoming.

You knocked me out of the game, so now I'll knock you out of it. Smiley

(It's not as if taking back my regions would yield me any long-term benefit if you keep attacking me like this)

I see you've done some interior decorations since I last checked the map. Looks prettier this way, with the colours a little tangled. Now bound together and attack Bacon King. Smiley

It's probably over at this stage. Bacon King just got Fezzy's cards, so he will likely have 28 armies in total, which will allow him to mop things up. I really don't get why Mikado decided to give the victory to him - had he done nothing I would have been forced to attack BK, which would, at least, have kept everyone in the game.

That should give me 14 to allocate freely + 2 in Mississippi.

I'd like the 14 distributed as follows:

4 in Mississippi
5 in South Dakota
5 in Wyoming

Then attack MS->LA->TX
WY->ID->OR (stop if I drop below 3 attacking)

Then await further orders.

*Sigh*

Ok, keep going OR->NV->AZ->NM as long as it is mathematically possible for me to take all of them. (that is, until I have lost more than 1 unit in the process). Then move 4 units to Oklahoma from Texas and end turn.
