I expect a liberal third party to emerge. Edwards/Crist is a very moderate ticket, to say the least.

September 2, 2016
Former Governor Howard Dean (D-Vermont) says in an interview that he will not endorse Edwards/Crist: Crist used to be a Republican. Remember what the Republicans did eight years ago? It didn't end well. I have strong reservations concerning this ticket. Stronger than most think.

September 9-11, 2016
Many prominent liberal Democrats meet in San Diego. They are led by Howard Dean. I am pleased to announce that we are forming the Liberal Party. The Democratic ticket this year is far too conservative and too far apart from our ideals. Our nominee in the election of 2016 will be Senator Charles Schumer of New York; our Vice-Presidential nominee will be former Vice-President Al Gore. These two men are liberal: they mean it when they say they want to solve problems.

Poll Taken September 12-13, 2016
Daniels/Brewer (R) 51%
Edwards/Crist (D) 30%
Schumer/Gore (L) 16%

September 30, 2016
At the first presidential debate, most agree that Daniels dominated. He rose in the polls while Edwards and Schumer were at an almost even plane.

Daniels/Brewer (R) 56%
Edwards/Crist (D) 20%
Schumer/Gore (L) 19%

October 5, 2016
The vice-presidential debate was interesting to say in the least. Gore clearly dominated, while Brewer gave a spectacular performance as well. Crist seemed jittery and unwell.

Poll Taken October 5-7, 2016
Daniels/Brewer (R) 54%
Schumer/Gore (L) 23%
Edwards/Crist (D) 20%

This is the first time a third party candidate has led a major party candidate in a general election since Ross Perot led both President Bush and Governor Bill Clinton in 1992.

October 12, 2016
At this debate, Daniels clearly dominated. Schumer did well also, but Edwards' performance was likened to that of George Bush's in 1992 (jittery, checking watch constantly).

Poll Taken October 12-15, 2016
Daniels/Brewer (R) 51%
Schumer/Gore (L) 33%
Edwards/Crist (D) 15%

October 28, 2016
Edwards barely competed in this last debate. Most saw the election as a race between Schumer and Daniels. Daniels, as usual, dominated, with Schumer giving a passionate argument in favor of universal health-care, welfare, and childcare. Edwards barely competed.

FINAL POLL
Daniels/Brewer (R) 50%
Schumer/Gore (L) 30%
Edwards/Crist (D) 15%
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Thanks to Tmthforu94 for giving me the idea of a third-party)

Any thoughts before we head to Election Day?

(NOTE: Unemployment is at 10.7% and President Clinton's approval rating is 18%, the lowest in history. Edwards' is 57%.)

Pretty interesting. I see a Republican landslide. Maybe one or two states will go to Schumer, and only D.C. will go to Edwards, simply because of the D by his name.

Final Election Map -

Daniels/Brewer (R) 471
Schumer/Gore (L) 54
Edwards/Crist (D) 13

The Daniels Administration:
Secretary of State - Bob Corker, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (R-TN)
Secretary of the Treasury - Chuck Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee (R-IA)
Secretary of Defense - Peter Hoekstra, Governor (R-MI)
Attorney General - Jeff Sessions, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee (R-AL)
Secretary of the Interior - Jon Hoffmeister, former CEO of Shell
Secretary of Agriculture - Saxby Chambliss, Senator (R-GA)
Secretary of Commere - Jon Kyl, Senator (R-AZ)
Secretary of Labor - Mike Enzi, Chairman of the Senate HELP Committee (R-WY)
Secretary of Health and Human Services - Lamar Alexander, Senator (R-TN)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development - Mike Crapo, Senator (R-ID)
Secretary of Energy - Sarah Palin, Senator (R-AK)
Secretary of Education - Richard Burr, Senator (R-NC)
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs - Johnny Isakson, Senator (R-GA)
Secretary of Homeland Security - Susan Collins, Chair of the Senate HSGA Committee (R-ME)

Daniels' decison to construct a Cabinet of almost entirely Congresspersons (whether former or incumbent) is seen as a move to prevent the legislative disaster that was the Clinton Administration's second term. The Cabinet is popular, however, save for the lone non-legislator, Jon Hoffmeister.

Good, though I can't see how the Republicans would lose seats with Daniels have 90+ approval ratings...

The unemployment rate is still well above 5%. Plus, the Republicans having 70+ seats in the Senate and 300+ seats in the House just seems unreal. Coattails eventually wear off.

But it dropped over 5 points. If unemployment rate was 5% now in RL, Democrats would be in great shape.

January 20, 2019

(NOTE: Skipping ahead two years.)

President Daniels delivers his second State of the Union: "We are now experiencing the first true economic growth in twelve years. America will no longer be plagued by out of control debts and deficits. I believe that we have saved America. Her harsh and unforgiving economic state of yesterday will now translate into a growing, booming economy."

January 21, 2019
On an MSNBC interview, President Daniels says that he still does not intend to run for reelection as POTUS.

At the same time, former Vice-President and current Illinois Senator Barack Obama announces that he will be seeking the Progressive Democratic Presidential nomination in 2020.

January 23, 2019
President Daniels proposes the Secure Our Borders Act to the U.S. Congress. It is supported especially by Vice-President Brewer.

January 24, 2019
Former Vice-President Chet Edwards says that he will decide whether or not to run for President in February or March.

Energy Secretary Sarah Palin announces that she will seek the GOP nomination for President.

January 25, 2019
Vice-President Brewer is assaulted during a speech in Edinburgh, Texas, by a bottle thrown at her from the crowd by a member of La Raza. The person is arrested and Vice-President Brewer sustains minimal injury.

January 26, 2019
Senator Chris Simcox (R-Arizona) says that he will not be running for President.

January 27, 2019
Former Vice-President Dan Quayle passes away at the age of 71, of an apparent blood-clot in his legs.

January 28-29, 2019
The funeral for Dan Quayle is attended by Governor Ben Quayle (R-Arizona), Pres Daniels, VP Brewer, Pres Clinton, VP Obama, and VP Edwards.

January 30, 2019
Daniels Approval/Disapproval - 98/0
Brewer Approval/Disapproval - 93/4

Unemployment - 6.4%

The unemployment rate is at 6% for the first time since 2007. Americans weep tears of joy.

February 1, 2019
The Secure Our Borders Act passes the House.

February 3, 2019
The Secure Our Borders Act passes the Senate.

February 4, 2019
President Daniels signs the Secure Our Borders Act. "I believe that we can now say we're responsible for once," says Vice-President Brewer, happy due to her accomplishment.

On the 108th birthday of Ronald Reagan, Governor Chuck DeVore (R-California) announces that he will run for President of the U.S.

February 11, 2019

February 12, 2019
Former Senator John Edwards (D-North Carolina) commits suicide in his New York City apartment. He was 65 years old.

February 13, 2019
Senator Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts) announces that he will run for President.

Senator Brian Schweitzer (PD-Montana) announces that he will run for President.

February 15, 2019

CANDIDATES FOR THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL RACE:

GOP Polls -
Energy Secretary Sarah Palin 45%
Senator Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts) 34%
Governor Chuck DeVore (R-California) 11%
Governor Ben Quayle (R-Arizona) 10%

PD Polls -
Senator Barack Obama (PD-Illinois) 39%
Senator Brian Schweitzer (PD-Montana) 39%
Former Vice-President Chet Edwards, of Texas 22%

The GOP front runner is clearly Palin. The PD is divided between the liberal Obama and the moderate Schweitzer. Edwards is remembered for his laughable performance in 2016, and this is not shoring up much in the way of support.
