New Poll: Pennsylvania Senator by Ipsos on 2010-08-30

Summary: D: 37%, R: 47%, I: 2%, U: 15%

Poll Source URL: Full Poll Details

...

Please imagine for a moment that Arlen Specter had won the Democratic primary for US Senate.
If the election for US Senator were held today and the candidates were Pat Toomey for the Republicans and Arlen Specter for the Democrats, which candidate would you vote for ?

Toomey: 52%
Specter: 40%

The numbers amongst registered voters are irrelevant. Registered voters don't show up to the polls. Likely voters do.

Anyway the lead isn't ten pts it is more like 5 pts I will believe Rasmussen on this one, than the ipsos, mcclatchy polls that had the CO numbers wrong as well.

The numbers amongst registered voters are irrelevant.

"Irrelevant" is overstating the case. They may not be predictive, but they certainly are relevant, unless the universe of possible voters is absolutely frozen in place. (It may well be. But things do happen between now and then.)

Well, hopefully this will shut some of talking heads up about how Specter would be doing better...
