You know, when you have to start out an advertisement by saying "I'm not a witch", it's probably time to call it a day.

This looks like something that would be on Tim & Eric.

Wow and Republicans said Obama only spoke in platitudes? That ad is like a record for platitudes.

That wasn't funny.

With Beet's posting lately I wonder if he still believes the thread title. Or if he even did to begin with. He has a habit of making ridiculously pessimistic statements without being clear if he's serious or not and (perhaps undeservedly) looking like a fool later. Case in point: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=82053.0

It was entirely their fault. They have supported Castle in the past, but out of state groups saturated the state with attacks on him calling him a RINO, so O'Donnell was able to squeeze through without serious questioning of her record.

How will you do that from Minnesota?  Is some other O'Donnell on your ballot?

I'm going to write her in for something. If you're going to do a joke write-in, why not use a joke who isn't eligible? Either State Senate to express my dissatisfaction at my insufficiently liberal State Senator in the state's most liberal district (I will vote to re-elect my awesome State Rep though), or county sheriff as the incumbent, an asshole Republican (he was only elected because it's a non-partisan election and he had a very weak opponent in 2006) is running unopposed.

Apparently O'Donnell had a rough radio debate. The conservative talk show host Michael Medved said she basically imploded. Hopefully the witch ends up like the one from the West did in the Wizard of Oz - metaphorically of course. Smiley

Evidently O'Donnell thinks that there is no separation of church & state because nowhere in the Constitution is that exact phrase used. Her imploding in a debate does not exactly surprise me.

It would only be an "implosion" if she had the snowball's chance in the first place. This race was over the minute Castle conceded.

That assumes the SCOTUS precedents as to their interpretation of the text of the Constitution has no meaning. Justice Black incorporated Jefferson's letter into the Constitution, by holding that his take on the matter was co-extensive with the meaning of the text of the Constitution itself (the first amendment). I am quite confident this nuance totally escapes O'Donnell.

That would be precisely why I can't stand the Constitutional literalists.  Clearly we're all yeoman farmers intent on avoiding international entanglements to this day.

More evidence that she is, in fact, a witch:

"Not to be such a nitpicky female, but how did Christine O'Donnell's hair go from a professional, skimming the shoulders cut in the "I am not a witch ad" to the middle of her back in the debate? Three possible options: 1) they edited it in post-production on the ad, 2) she's currently wearing hair extensions, 3) or she actually is a witch."

I'm sure you are aware of what type of person Black really was. A klan lawyer and anti Catholic bigot. How much credibility do you give someone like that?

Was Jefferson even at the Constitutional Convention? (no) And many people have said he was some great anti religion crusader, if that is true why did he use federal money to fund Christian missionaries to spread the word of God to the western Indians?

Jefferson was a very freethinking man (and it certainly takes chops to actually cut and paste together his own version of the Bible) but he was almost certainly not an Atheist, as far as my knowledge goes. Alot of people suspect he was a deist, and that's certainly very different.
