Very Republican sample Rass seems to get in NY, with the governor numbers and now this.

I'm not worried about this race though.

New York is a very Dem state, but the GOP does have pockets of strength and in the right conditions a GOP candidate has a shot.

New Yorkers will support a GOP candidate if they are moderate (ok... not this time) and have, well, some balls (aka D'Amato, Pataki...)

I think Hillary only beat Lazio (no super star candidate, to be sure) by about 8 correction 12% back in 2000.

Given this is a GOP year, I can buy a 10 point lead.

I will be shocked if the (D) doesn't wind cleanly, but 10 points is sane IMHO.

Both the Senate and Governor's polls out of NY were much closer than I expected. Either this is a weird sample or maybe Cuomo/Gillibrand won't win by the huge margins this year that I expected them to.

In New York, that probably would be a net plus, especially among independents and Democrats.  Besides, who are Republicans going to vote for instead?  Unlike Paladino, DioGuardi has the Conservative line.

He had the $$ to be a super star candidate.  I think he raised & spent more than Hillary, and together they spent something like over $90m dollars back in 2000, which is just incredible considering it was 10 years ago

Something inside me tells me this poll might be more accurate than we think, and it's not just hackery. We knew Gillibrand, by all rights, should be vulnerable a long time ago.

Yeah, I wasn't involved/particularly interested in politics at all at the time but I remember everyone talking about that race. The final margin was 12 points.

Last time a Republican broke 45% in a Senate race in New York was 1992, Al D'Amato winning his final term 49-48.
