I mean really.........is he serious

In this link Kerry says something about it taking Reagan more than one try to be President - thats true, but I hardly think Kerry inspired the following Reagan did

he gave it a good effort, but he is not going to be the nominee again.

It sounds to me a lot more like pure speculation than him saying, "I'm going to run again in 2008."  I highly doubt he will.  It's easy to entertain a thought without actually acting on it.

I wouldnt count him out for making a run in 2008 - i dont think he could have mentally handled losing to Bush in 2004 - we have all seen his erratic behavior

I hope not. Depending on the Republican nominee, I'd have to vote third party if Gore was the Dem.

I couldn't imagine Gore being the nominee again.  I personally think that the Democratic Party would seriously lose credibility if he was.

That's my assessment as well. His position on Iraq was clear and unambiguous

Yes, and he had that whole cave-man look going for him.

Though admittedly, Gore would have done better than Kerry... though I think his new liberal alpha-male facade might actually make up for him not being from Mass.

2008 could be ver interesting.  We could see Gore and Kerry back for the Dems, along with Edwards and HIllary.  Go ahead and pick an early favorite out of them.

As to the republicans, Rudy or McCain have no chances at all to be nominated. The Religious Right won't approve them.

Gore killed himself with the recount of 2000.  He should have learned the Nixon lesson, there are better times to fight the battles.

He won't ever be near the nomination again.

Right now, I would say it'll be between Hillary and Dean on the Dem side, but I'm also sure there will be dark horse whom we wouldn't predict right now, probably a moderate of some sort.

It won't be Kerry.  The press is getting prepared to crucify him right now beyond belief.  Smiley

On the Rep side I see a number of possibilities.  Rudy is too socially liberal, but he has endeared himself to the party faithful like no one I've seen in a long while, so I certainly wouldn't count him out if he moderates his social positions and promises to have a conservative VP like Santorum.

Bill Owens is a good candidate, but his divorce will cause problems.  Plus, the Reps really did badly in CO this year.

McCain is too old and distrusted by the party faithful.

Jeb has his brother's name problem, otherwise he'd be the perfect candidate.  Still has a shot if he wants it.

Frist is too boring.  Pataki is too moderate.  Romney is too Massachusetts.

I'm sure some dark horse will come out of nowhere here too to make things interesting.  My bet is on Tim Pawlenty, governor of Minnesota, who's been mentioned here before.

Not saying he won't run again.  But I just don't see him winning the Democratic Nomination again.  Nor do I see Gore ever having a chance again.  History has shown that once you lose a presidential election,  you're presidential hopes are more or less finished.  Yes there was Richard Nixon, but I think he was the exception to this rule.  When you look at McGovern, Dukakis, Dole, and Mondale.    All of these guys just faded into the oblivian after they lost.   I highly doubt that most Democrats would be willing to give Kerry a 2nd chance.  I could be wrong though.

Kerry could, but I wouldn't put money on it.  Whomever takes over the DNC will most likely push for a moderate Democrat than a far-left one.

i doubt he will run again.  if he does, i dont think he will win the nomination.

it's funny that he invoked the name of ronald reagan.  i would most likely compare any future presidential runs  that kerry may make to bob dole, not ronald reagan.

I'd like to see a far-right plutocratic republican pitted against a far-left socialist democrat.  I'd also like to see more third parties participate.  A centrist party, such as Natural Law, or Reform, might just benefit from such a scenario.  Anything that weakens the DNC and the RNC strengthens the USA.

Reminds me of Humphries in 72, he lost to Nixon by a margin not dissimilar to that which Kerry lost to Bush by, that said Kerry would lose but he would probably garner a significant portion of the votes in Iowa and NH without winning anything and then get killed in the south by someone like Warner, Nelson or Lincoln (that said if the election looks tough I doubt any of those three would run… Bill Nelson might but Warner probably would, look for him to try to make it to the Senate).

I think Gore was one of the People that could have beat bush This Year. But I would rather have Kery than Gore any day.
